There is one primary called Gigamind English primary school at Tin Shui Wai, similar to international school.

Hi WYmom,

Do they teach Mandarin as well? Does it mean that all subjects is using English to each expect Chinese lesson? I'm from SIngapore so I hoped to find a school that is similar to the teaching style of Singapore. All international school are at Kowloon / HK (far away from Yuen Long)

If you want Singaporean School, there is only one in HK - Singapore International School on HK side.

you can consider JIS (Japanese International School) at Tai Po. It is a really good international school.

Gigamind is a private school.  As far as I know, all the subjects are taught in English, except Chinese, which is taught in Mandarin.

Hi Sim:

I don't really know how good Gigamind is academically, but when I went to their open day last year, the Vice Principal told me they have to maintain a standard that's comparable to that of a good local school, so their kids can move on to local middle schools with no problem if they choose to.

I think their open day is coming soon.  You may give them a call to find out.

Thanks for your reply! It's really help me alot. Is it too early to go for the open house. My son is 2 yrs old. When do I need to apply for entry? Sorry, because I'm SIngapore so I don't know how is it like in HK.

Hi Sim,

Try HLYIS if you are living Yuen Long nearby. It takes around 30 min, not longer than 45 min from where you are living to there.

Have toddler class for younger kids. Call'em for detail

Hi sim:

You may go to the open day one year before your son is ready to enter primary school.  But you may want to check out their kindergarten now, if you are interested.  I heard it's quite good, but unlike the primary school which is an English speaking school, the kindergarten is an Cantonese speaking school.

Hi BeBeJ,

Thanks again for your help!

I had already called up their kindergarten. They told me that the rate to enter it's Primary school is 90+% if my son study in their kindergarten. I'm planning to let him study in this kinder but maybe in K1. I had already registered him in nearby nursery (before I know about this school) & I think that it's better to study near for nursey as he is still young. Hopefully, he will be used to the new environment when he switch to Gigamind. The nursery he is going to study have some English & Mandarin lesson too.
