My son has just got an offer from TYESF; however, he's doing well in the present int'l kinder. Most of parents advised me that it's better to change to TYESF if I want to get a place in SJS, otherwise, the change of getting admitted is very slim. Could u pls tell me where did your kid study before going to SJS. I'm really don't want to quit the present kinder; however, I'm afraid I'll miss the golden chance. Pls advise.

I hope this simple analysis can help U to make your decision.

Every year SJS has 150 seat for P1

Assumed :  20% occupies by foreigners.....30 seats
Assumed :  10% occupies by sibling...........15 seats
Report(2006) : ESFTY granted around.......60 seats
Assumed : Other 2 ESF's Kinders granted...5 seats

Therefore, there is still 40 seats available for Non-foreigner, Non-sibling and Non-ESF Kinders student.

So, if your kid come from other international kinders. It still has a chance to get an interview at the 1st round. But, surely,  it won't be as secured as ESF's Kinders.

One more figure for your reference, I learnt from SJS the current waiting list for P1 (2006/07) is around 90+

i.e. There was around 130 applications came from Non-priority groups. If assumes 100 applications came from other international kinders (30 came from local kinders). And, your kid is studying in the international kinders. Then, the chance to get an interview at the 1st around will be around 40/100 = 40%.

.Frankly, I don't want to quit. My son studies at Anfield (I remember yr daughter joined the playgroup before), they arrange lots of activities, e.g. concert, sport day, parties, lots of field trips....My boy told me he's number of best friends in the class (and also one girl friend

) That's why I want to stay. Moreover, as u know, Anfield is strong at languages. I hope my boy will be lucky enough to get a place in SJS later. Thanks again.

Fattymom,

My son is studying in SJS, he went to Creative Primary School's Kindergarten before SJS. My son was offered an interview after the first term in January 2005, this may be the xth round. I think the chance of being admitted is much lower compared with ESF's Kindergarten.

Don't choose the information you like, be realistic. The outcome is hard to predict, SJS accepts any students they can fulfill their English requirement. How can you predict the number of students failing the interview in the 1st and 2nd rounds?

alexlui is right, be realistic! In fact, I know that it's better to switch to ESF. On the other hand, I want my son have a happy kinder life. The campus of TYESF is a little bit smaller compared with other kinders. All in all, be realistic. It's better to consider the future of my kid rathan than the short term happiness

By the way, I also have one more question. Some moms said the English standard of ESFTY kids are not up to the standard. May I know how poor it is? Any example? Do u think the main reason is that the parents do not create a English enviornment for them? My son is very active so that he is weak at self-control. Do u think the teaching approach of ESF is not appropriate for him. Anfield is strict. I'm afraid that ESF is to loose for him. Please advise
