Hi adachan318,

I've visited this kindergarten before.  The Headteacher is very kind but the campus is really...... small and "屋村" feel.  I'm quite impressed by its curriculum but cannot find anyone with first-hand expereince to share.  Since I would like my boy to go to a kinder with strong Chinese and English as well, there's not much choice in the nearby area.  How do u think about this kinder?  Pls share.

Hi 502,

No I have not.  I am planning to.  I learn about this school from a brochure I got from a friend.

I would like my daughter to go to an international Kindergarten with strong curriculum and a stimulating environment because I believe kids need to be adequately stimulated.  Additionally, I would like for her to learn English from native speakers.  In this case, my friend told me that RightMind might be a good choice for me.

Would you still consider sending your boy there even the campus is small ?  Have you also considered Woodland Panda school and SunShine House.  They are both in Chi Fu Garden.

Your thoughts ?

From my point of view, Woodland and Sunshine are more 鬼仔.  I am thinking of having my kid in a school with emphasis on both Chinese and English.  Since I am new to HK Island, it is really a big headache for me.

BTW, how old is your sweetie?  Mine is 2.5

If you only consider Pok Fu Lam area, I will choose Rightmind. They have a very strong english and Chinese program. Have you talked to Mr. or Mrs Ho before?  You should talk to them to understand more about their program.  If you are not sure about their method of teaching, you should join their courses at Kinder - U in Causeway bay first. Then you can decide later.  You will feel more confortable.

My kid just enrolled their nursery class.  I would say the school fee of $3,700 is really expensive and not value for money.   We are angry because we were informed the exact shcool fee only one week before the school started.  

In the first week, when I have chance to get into the school, it's really in a mess.  Most of their teachers are newly joined.  Though they claimed that their teachers are well qualified, the fact is the teachers seemed not knowing how to control the situation and help to comfort the crying children.   

I don't know how the others feel.  I've attended the parents' meeting.  Mr. Ho is just a businessman though he gave us a lot of "tips" in teaching our kids.   At the very beginings, I believed that Mrs. Ho
really wanted to do something for the children.  In fact, Right mind, just like  Kinder U, is only part of their business.

As far as I know, they fired a teacher, probably due to the complaints of the parents in the first month.

Frankly, I don't know if they 've improved or not.  Parents are not allowed to get into the school after the 1st week.  My kid seems to be okay.  May be she get used to the new school.   Unfortunately, I don't know what did she learn in school.  Though I keep on asking her what happened in school, she is too young to describe the things to me.

Some parents said their kids are still crying when going to school but they don't know the reasons.  They said that may be something happened in school which made them  scared.  I don't want to speculate the reasons as no one knows what happened inside.  

I just want to say if I had better choice, I would have changed to other school.

Their curriculum? They claimed that they will teach
phonics and their prestigious 'product' Chinese zijing, Oxford reading trees...  As said, I don't know what she learns but she bought some 2 oxford reading tree books.  For the zijing, we have to pay $600 for the books.  

Btw, for the concept of zijing, I think that it is really good.  they teach chinese character (simplified) by using some special technique which developed by the Chinese scholars.  However, I found that there is a similar product in Hong Kong which do the same things and only costs you $200 for 6 VCDs.  I heard that if you learn the whole set of zijing in Kinder-x, it costs you over $10,000 as they break the whole course into different stages.  In fact, you can buy the VCDs yourself and learn it at home, very easy.  The songs and the worlds are easy to remember.

Thanks.  Would you consider transferring your bb to other school ?  Did you look at other schools in Pok Fu Lam before ?

Can we get the Zijing VCDs outside ?  If so, where can we get it and do you know how much it costs ?

Of course! But I still cannot find a suitable one.  E.g. Victoria, full already. But I will keep on looking it.

The one I mentioned is not Zijing but similar stuff. You may have a look at Popular, 商務...I can't remember the exact title.  May be 'learn 3,000 chinese words'.  The producer is a Singapore co.

I just came across this topic and my son is studying Nursery there, so far his progress is quite good and he seems very interested in Zijing as he always asks for playing the material at home.  He is happy in school and he always try to sing the songs learned at school with the body movement.   

However, the administration of this KG needs improvement definitely.  And the communication between the KG and the parents are not that much.

Are there any other mums who can share their experience here?

RightMind Int'l Nusery moved to South Horizon this Sept. Is your son still studying there? If so, does your son enjoy going there? Also, what are your comments on the adminstration and cirriculum?

I agree with you. Mr. Ho is really a businessman.  It is ridiculous for him to teach us on the education aspects.  He is very good in talking and presentation. But when you know him for quite a long time, and listen what he is talking about, you will know more what will be his strenghts.  Because of him, not like before, the kinderU and the kindergarten are made like a business. To me, it seems that money is their top priority. For Mrs. Ho, may be she is also keen in education , but she handleover most of the job to him who is very outspoken and good in PR.  Anyway, maybe their belief is new and ok, but nobody can carry it out in detail. How much effort they will put forward to the kinder, it is unknown.
