我的小孩讀國際學校。
除了英文、中文外，學校規定要學多一種語言，
法文、德文 or 西班牙文，任選其一。
揀選後不可以更改。
我想選法文，但老公想選西班牙文。

請大家比d意見。Thanks！

Can you or your husband speak French or Spanish?
If not, then choose German. It will be easier for your kid to manage because the grammer and phonics of German are much more strict forward than French or Spanish.

The Chinese that you have mentioned is Mandarin? If yes, then I will choose French. French is difficult to master (pronunciation), it is better to start from child.

I don't know German but seems that German words are very long.

Personally I like French. I find it's very pleasant to the hearing. Some of the spellings are the same as English. Pronunciation and intonation are not too difficult but then grammar needs a lot of memorization.

I also have the impression that French is more popular and if a lot of schools offer French as an option, you might get support more easily.

For the purpose of travelling, I think knowing French is good because most French don't speak English whereas a lot of German speak good English.

Why not choose Spanish. As I know, English, Mandarin and Spanish are the most popular languages in coming 20 years.

If you want your child to be a traveller, choose Spanish because it is the third most popular language in the world.

If you hope your child to study Linguistics, Philosophy or Theology in the future, then choose German.

I personally prefer Spanish as I have studied for some time. It's phonics are nice and grammatical structure relatively simple. But actually if a child can master either Spanish or German, it's not difficult for him/her to pick up other European languges in the future.

For people who understand only one language,
which group has the largest world population?

e.g.

people who speak only French
people who speak only German
people who speak only Spanish
