Re: ESF Tsing Yi
my girl starts her letterland phonic with an English lady living near my place when she was 1 1/2. The teacher organized a small group (4 including his son) of children as a playgroup at her house. So my daughter knows all the letterlanders actually before she entered kinder. Then last year when I moved to a new place at Fairview Park YL, I've found another Eng teacher for her. She comes to my house twicw a week, an hour each time to just free play with my daughter. Learning through playing is much useful to learn a second language for kids. At the same time, I also hire a Japanese girl (just 20 years old) to teach her Jap once a week. Also playing instead of a formal tutoring. Sometimes the jap girl will take my girl out to the park or to park'n shop according to the topic she teaches her. Well, I don't really expect her fluency in Jap but to my surprise, she is doing quite good. She can read the Jap "hiragara" and can say some very simple sentences. But it is true that the younger she starts a foreign language, the easier for her. at least she really "sounds" likes a japanese girl. I think for private tutoring, you have to look for teachers that live in your area. You may post ad in Park'nshop, that's what I did before. Do you read "親子便利" ? You will see my girl on this May issue's cover. |
