As far as I know, there are only 2 lessons for Mandarin per week with each lesson lasting for 20 -30 minutes.

Re: URGENT! KBCK(Apr) or YMCA(Aug)?

Shown媽媽 and Cherylmum,

Thanks for your kind advice.

Shown媽媽, If your son woke up from his nap at 6:30, what time did he sleep and when did he get up in the morning?

My daughter's present schedule looks like this:
7:00 get up
8:30 breakfast
12:45 lunch
1:30 - 3:30 nap
6:30 dinner
9:00 go to bed

If I adjust her schedule for pm class, it may look like this:
9:00 get up
10:30 brunch (she takes the sch. bus at 11:15)
2:00 snack at school
4:30 - 6:30 nap (gets home at 4:15)
7:30 dinner
11:00 go to bed

What I don't like about it is that she won't see me when she gets up and I won't have my free time in the evening.

Cherylmum,
You're lucky as your daughter didn't take a nap and could go to bed early.  Once in a while, my daughter didn't nap when we were out together but she would be terribly grumpy and went totally out of control.  On her gym class day, because we had to wake her up from her nap after only about an hour's sleep, she would be very cranky still and not following the instructions and that's why we're trying to re-schedule her gym class.  Isn't it great to have some free time in the evening after your daughters have gone to bed?  I love it too and that's why I have hesitation in the afternoon class at KBCK.

Sandrine,

Normally, sleep around 11:00-11:30pm and wake up almost 10:00am.

Re: URGENT! KBCK(Apr) or YMCA(Aug)?

Hi, there,

I'm going to apply K1 (2006) for my daughter.  Actually, I applied KBCK already but was told that interview will be Jan. next year.  Since my daugher right now is still taking some kinds of allien words (Cantonse+English+???), I just wonder whether she can be accepted.  I understand YMCA is very good, but the school fee is also "very good" and which is quite far from my home.  For my upcoming planning, I'll apply CAIS K2 for her, can anybody give me some sugguestion for choosing?

Re: URGENT! KBCK(Apr) or YMCA(Aug)?

225333,

Depends what you want. Do you mean choosing among the 3 schools that you mentioned?  Ask yourself how important the following is to you:  philosophy of the school, learning approach, language development, phonics learning, bible learning, teacher-student ratio, closeness to home, fees, continuity to primary…If you're keen on KBCK, try to speak English to your daughter at home.  It's only July and there's still lot of time before the interview.

Re: URGENT! KBCK(Apr) or YMCA(Aug)?

Sandrine,

I wish she can go to K2 of CAIS in 2007, co'z there's no K1 in CAIS.  I need to find a school with English medium or focus on English in order she can apply and enter K2 of CAIS.  Since KBCK will be interviewed in January next year and I don't know whether they'll accept my daughter, I need to find other kinders for in case.  That's why I need more suggestion (more kinders for choose) from any of you, an experienced parent.

Re: URGENT! KBCK(Apr) or YMCA(Aug)?

225333,

Have your browsed the international school website at www.classmateasia.com?

If you're looking for one in Kowloon & NT, it seems to me that you have already found the best value ones, e.g. KBCK, CAIS, ICS.  You may also try Sunnyside in Jordan.  Its fees are about $2,300.  Other popular and less expensive kindies that offer bilingual streams are HK Preschool, Think and Boxhill.

Just read your post in another thread about ICS.  So why don't have apply for ICS for your younger daughter if her sister's studying there?  Why would you prefer CAIS?  Is it because of location?

Re: URGENT! KBCK(Apr) or YMCA(Aug)?

Sandrine,

Yes, you're right.  We are living in Kowloon, close to ICS Secondary section (of course, we moved here because of my elder daughter!)  However, ICS kinder is located at Shatin, it's too far for the little one to go there.  CAIS is in Kowloon City, just 5 min. by car to go there from ICS.  It's more convenient for me to send the sisters to go schools   and I visited CAIS before and found it's similar to ICS but kinders' school fee is much cheaper than ICS....

Re: URGENT! KBCK(Apr) or YMCA(Aug)?

225333,

I see.  But you may have to change school again when the new campus in Shatin is ready?  O but by that time, your older girl should be old enough to go to school by herself, so that'll be more flexible. Good luck and thanks for your update on the new school.
