Re: Chinese International School

Dear Ruby,

As far as I know, ISF is a new school.  It uses both Chinese and English for teaching.  School fee is quite expansive.  Also, it does not follow IB system, comparing to CIS.

Re: Chinese International School

SmartB,

Thanks for the info. Only knew the PIPS in Parkview before so I thought it's far far away from ESF Tsing Yi. With your explanation, then understood that it's not too far.

You know whenever I talked with friends, who are largely professionals, their key concerns over CIS is that it is "very very snorbish". Kids there will say "Oh! your dad only has Porsch, my dad has THREE audis". Now that your kid's actually in, relatively how close to reality is the above? That's a typical scenario there or it's possibly from primarily a small gang there?

As parents, we would and should steer / guide our child to the directions within the boundaries possible. CIS, so far, possibly provides the right balance of academic and development environment that we are longing for. Nevertheless, if the "snorbishness" there is going to give a tough path toThierry, that'll change the landscape. Thoughts?

Cheers
ThierryMaMa

Re: Chinese International School

Dear SmartB,

Thanks so much for sharing.

In fact, I'm looking for Primary section and I'm afraid that the chance of getting a place in CIS is slim as they would likely give priority to the students currently in the reception class.

Do you have information regarding the number of applications and no of places available for P.1?

Many many thanks.

Re: Chinese International School

Dear cpmummy,

PIPS: Parkview International Pre-School (For PIPS Rhine Garden, some good teachers left the school recently, not sure that they can maintain standard!?!)

Dear Ruby,

Places of reception=Places of primary~Places of secondary (10-15 more than primary)
For CIS, normal intake will be reception and Year 7(secondary). For 2004/5, 160 students applied for 40 places in Year 7. (47 Secondary and 17 Primary students left the school before start fo 2004-05)

Dear ThierryMaMa,

As I posted eariler:
"we don't know the middle:rich ratio. It is difficult to determine rich and middle: family income? living area? amount of pocket money? clothes you wear? food you eat?
As we have a faith that children have basic needs like: food, clothes, shelter, they also need parents love and care, which have not different in middle and rich.
It is ourselves, parents, that teach the child about values and concept of money. (You may read the book "rich kid smart kid" from Robert Kiyosaki)
We have seen cases that the parents are very rich but the child is very poor (in term of parents care and love).
We also know that some rich people do not give a lot of money to their children so as to teach them how to make moneyby themselve."
I have met Mr. Lee Ka S grand daughter and daughter in law in the school. They are in very low profile.

We believe that "comparison" happens in every school (local and interantional) and every place (from school to work, hospital to graveyard).  We must remember that our God was born in a stable.
