請問知不知道上環英基幼稚園的入學要求呀?

Fili: I want to know too.  Is it on a first come first serve basis?  I wonder if the language background of the child will give priority since there is no interview and aren't sure about the selection criteria.

Have you submitted the application yet?  I submitted the form last November for 2006 Jan. intake but still haven't heard back from them.  I just know that they have already informed the parents on the results of the 2005 SEPT. instake.

Maybe some ESF parents can shine some light on this.

Hi,
My girl study at Brudbury School. I think you need to live in school zoon,since you get in you don't need to.I heard that some people they borrow friend's address in order to get in school.You need to apply early.

You can try small world and starters.

Dear Gab,

My daughter is neither student of Starters nor Small World, sorry that I cannot give you thorough information about these two schools. However, according to my previous research and my personal impression. I can give my comment as followed:-

Starters-
I visited the school in Wanchai one year ago. Starters is an un-official feeder school of ESF schools in the Island side. I think the school area is really small and too crowd. However, their teaching standard is not bad. During the time in my visit, I saw that about 20% of the students are non-Chinese. All children talked in English with each other. They are teaching Reading in K2 class.

Even the staffs in ESF agree that, in general, the students in Starters are smarter than those in ESF in term of English standard.

Small world Christian Kindergarten-
Another school I’ve mentioned is Small World. It is really an international kindergarten. The school environment is excellent. About 50% of the children are non-chinese speakers. The children target primary schools are all international schools in HK but not just ESF. But of course, there are some Chinese parents put their children there only for foundation years and aimed on famous local primary schools.

The principal and staff I’ve contacted are caring and helpful. I feel warm when I was talking to them. However, Small World is too remote to my home so I give it up finally.

Hope this information can help.

My suggestion is: If your child first language is English and target to ESF, you can choose any English speaking kindergarten in HK. If English is only his second language and he is not an ESF students’ sibling, it is more secure to enroll him in an ESF kindergarten for granting priority in interview.

By the way, are you sure Sheung Wan ESF has January intake?
According to the ESF main website, ESF Abacus Kindergarten only "has two intakes per year, one in April and the other in September. "

You should check again with the school!

When we dropped off the application to ESF Sheung last Nov., the staff said they have just changed the admission policy that all students entering K1 must be 3 yrs. when school starts and those who aren't 3 yet in SEPT. will have to wait till the JAN. intake. When we called the school this spring, the lady also mentioned about this... at this point, I can only hope it is true...
Anyways, my son can always attend Starters in SEPT. if he is not accepted at ESF Sheung Wan for Jan 2006 intake.

Fili: No interview at all for ESF Kinder. Just submit the application and wait for their letter by mail.  Only ESF Primary has interview for the child.

Blythe_miki: Which ESF kindy did you apply for?  Is it for SEPT 2006 intake?  If that is the case, usually you will be notified by mail around May 2006.  You can call the ESF kindy to confirm the time and they should be able to tell you over the phone.

How do I get the application form for ESF kinder?  As I cannot find it from the website.  

Moreover, my daughter will start the playgroup class at Woodland Pre-school in August.  Is there any comment on this school?

Fili: To obtain the application package, simply call up the ESF kindy you wish to apply for and they will mail it out to you.
