Is it advisable to shift to Int'l school?

Hi parents,

I am planning to let my child to apply into Int'l school from a local English school in upper primary level.

Does any parent has this experience before? Please share?

Did you consult with your child?
What is his/her will?

Too much work. No time to attend other extra-curricular acitivities.
My child seems annoyed to do revisions after tons of homework being given daily.

If you child has no motivation or fear to go to school. Because of the heavy work load. It will be justify to switch him/her to international school. But you better talk to your kid before the action. Because him/her have to give up the school mate, teacher and familiar environment from the existing school. And also let him/her to knowing that his/her opinion and feeling are respected.

Thanks for your advice.  CDNIS is not easy to get into, in fact their entrance test takes 3 hours to complete, the english standard is much higher than the local ones.

We are living on HK Island, so we will not consider Phoenix as there is a distant problem.

At this of the year, do you think we can approach any other Int'l schools for a place, regardless of the school fees?

Hi slam30,

I know the problem of adapting to new environment, but if things couldn't work on this way, I need to think other alternatives.

My child also has the feeling of changing school, so far I am looking for a suitable one.

Do you know most parents here are parents with  children studying in primary schools and kindergartens?  The editor of the SCMP Education Post, KATHERINE FORESTIER, is also an ESF parent.  She has been writting reports about ESF's schools almost every week for so long.  I always read the Q&A section and found lot of valuable advices for parents. Would it be more sensible to ask her?

My son is studying in Shatin Junior P.2, my situation is totally different from yours.  I don't think I can advise you on this decision.  I can only tell you that ESF schools are not identical.

Verbally not very good!  Since from local school, a lower chance for them to express in English orally, however, written English is of higher standard.

Renaissance College is the correct school name,
not Renaissance int'l school
