Re: Question about Japanese International School in Tai PO

QQSS and Y2KChild,

As for Japanese International School (JIS) English Section, they only provide primary education at the moment. The one in HK Island is for Japanese children living in HK and the school is just like a public junior high school in Japan.
According to the principal of JIS English Section, the 6 graders will move on for the secondary education mostly to Shatin College. Some others go to ICS, other intl schools and other ESF secondary in KL and HK Island depending on their residence. JIS English standard is quite high and almost all the children will get into their first choice of secondary school. So I don't think you need to be concerned about it that much.
For the tuition fee, it's been $74,000 per year for 2005/2006, plus $12,000 non-refundable capital levy. They used to have debenture program before but now only the capital levy.... So, in total, it costs $86,000 per year. Yes, this is expensive.:tongue::tongue:
But I still do like many things of this school, like daily second language class from grade 1 through grade 6, small class size, a nice grass pitch, indoor pool and a cosy library.
Hope it helps.

Thank you so much!
But I want to ask one more question, so where should my baby study the kindergarden so can had a great chance to study JIS?

In fact, I live in KLN now, I prepare to move in Tai Po, but before I buying flat in Tai Po, I must consider where can My baby study in here. So the 1st choice is JIS, the 2nd choice may be the international scholol in Hong Lok Yuen,

So do u have any gd suggestion that where bb study in the kindergarden?

Re: Question about Japanese International School in Tai PO

dear
Today is my girl's first day to JIS reception class. She really enjoyed it very very much. but she didn't eat much of her lunch! JIS is really a nice school. She is so exicted to have swimming class tomorrow.
My girl was in Anchors Kindergarten & Int'l Nursery (Tai Po) before she transfers to JIS. Anchors is quite nice and she did learn lots of things at school.
I believe JIS concerns more on students' english standard rather than the school they came from. As the interview is the core part of admission (I think).
So you should let your bb to live in an "english" environment if you wanted her to go to int'l school.

Ashleymama

Re: Question about Japanese International School in Tai PO

Is it very difficult to get admitted?   As I know, there is ONE class for very grade.  Has it changed?  My son is supposed to start P1 in Sep 2008.  When can I apply?  Thanks

Fattymom & abc-abc

To answer your quesitons:

1. JIS have class starting from "reception" (born in year 2001) to P6
2. Its curriculum combined those from U.S, Britain, Canada &Australia.
3. Yes, there is only one class for each grade and take 2006 as a reference, the class size is around 14 to 25.   As the seats are limited, it's comparatively difficult to be admitted.
4.JIS does not have deadline for application, you can submit the form anytime if your kid reachs the age required.
