I have 2 children studies in Canada and we plan to move to HK next year (2007).  One is at grade 10 (Form 3) and the little one is at grade 6 for the coming year. Both of them cannot read or write Chinese but speak Cantonese.  Can anyone help me about how to choose a school for them?  I think I will put my older child in an International School, either Renaissance College or Canadian Int'l School, which one is better? Does he need to attend the HKCEE at Form 5 if he was in an international school?  For the little one, which school is more suitable for him? Any comments?  Is there anyone has the same case as me?  Please advise.

Canadian Int'l School may be better for both kids as it is using Canadian cirriculum, so your kids can obtain the Diploma for applying Canadian Universities.

Renaissance is using IB cirriculum, but it is relatively new and has no track record.  HKCEE or any local HK exams are not relevant to international schools.

Just wonder why you don't leave the kids to continue study in Canada as usually we will send the kids to study in Canada at secondary stage rather than the reverse.

As my husband will go work in HK, I think it is better for us to live together plus I don't have any family members in Canada.  My older one said he might not like the envoirnment in HK but I told him to try for one year and I want him to know more Chinese.  

Why do you like your kids to study secondary stage in Canada?  Are you Canadian citizen?  Otherwise, you have to pay as an overseas student and it is quite expensive.

Studying in international school in HK is even more expensive than overseas students fee in Canada.  Besides, most traditional HK local schools use duck-feeding approach instead of interactive approach.  English standard in local schools is also not good enough and pressure is very high here.
