Does the place to further study matter?

Some parents may prefer their children to go to one country for further studies but not others. Shall they choose a 'right' international school accordingly? For example: if you want your kid to be admitted to US universities, don't let him/her to ESF whereas AIS or HKIS would be the right choices; do go ahead to ESF if your kid is expected to go to British univerisities.

Please share your view.

Re: Does the place to further study matter?

I think if study IBD which is universally accepted, can choose Univerities in UK, US, Australia or Canada, so no problem!

If choose to study in one system only, the choice of Us is quite limited.

Re: Does the place to further study matter?

Some further points for considerations:

1) the (expected) length of study in different international schools (7 years in ESF, 6 years in AIS or HKIS) compatible to different universities?

2) different counselling services in different schools? For example, teachers and staff in ESF schools are more familiar with the path to get into UK univerisities, whereas AIS and HKIS have stronger tradition to do the arrangement for their students to US?

3) the orientation of students and atmosphere of the school generate a tendency to go to a country but not another?

Re: Does the place to further study matter?

1) If you count the age of kids graduated at the end, it's the same (ESF kids start P1 at 5 years old instead of 6)

2) Not agreed - You can take a look at the Us of graduates went to in the past years.

3) Not agreed - There are so many nationalities in IS.

Which year is your kid studying in?

Re: Does the place to further study matter?

That's great if it makes no difference for a child to go to any international schools. The conclusion is: international school graduates in Hong Kong may go to any universities and we don't need to consider the "system", e.g. ESF is British & HKIS is American.

AIS here stands for American International School.
I am sorry that I am not sure if there are formal abbreviations for Australian International School and American International School.
