冇，跟年份。有個別例子可能係12月早產b, 經學校同意，才可以做大B遲一年入學。在esf kindergarten , 大B細B係冇什麼事意思，因為不用寫字

學校是跟年份來收生！
而且低年级冇寫字、測驗、考試，為何要做大B？其實反而浪費了一年時間！

I disagree with those who say that there's no point for small B to delay for a year. A few months makes a whole world of difference in interview performance, especially at k1 and for boys.

Although ESF interviews are easy and stress-free, my small B was simply not developmentally ready for it at 25 months. He was barely starting to use complete sentences in his first language Cantonese. (I know, some of you might have talented kids who were talking bilingual in complete sentences by 18 months - but my son is definitely still within the normal range.) In fact, a few months later he became a different person, taking comfortably in English in group settings.

Without kindy priority, ESF primary is basically out of the question for Kowloon/NT families. (Admittedly we don't love ESF that much that we'd move to the island side solely for a better chance.)

If the school think you are not ready yet (overall developmentally), they will ask small B to repeat and be big B. I have seen kids repeating k1 or K2 for this reason as recommended by the school. But you cannot request yourself to be big B, just for sake of getting better chance for successful primary interview or just for speech delay. The above applies to known ESF students not new recruitment.

If you are willing to move to HK side, there are many choices other than ESF....

There are at least 3 Dec born (not big B) children in my class (out of 24kids).

May be u have applied a rather competitive esf kinder (abacus or hillside), or may be you are just bad luck with ur random number.

明白樓主的擔心，男仔語言發展較慢，差一個月面試已經差好遠了。有聽過ESF RC 俾conditional offer個12月細B, 本身有sibling priority, 老師見他身材矮小，overall development 也慢，就叫他repeat K2才入RC (即下一年才開學）
Foundation school 好似無呢個安排。

Foundation school 都會，不過主要是對有priority (kinder/sibling)

Of course especially for boys, 高大D運動又叻D，自然有自信。

國際學校重視readiness for learning, 呢點我幾欣賞。我同幼稚園校長傾偈，佢話我仔生得高，感覺mature, 面試都會有優勢。雖然我奇怪點解鬼佬睇野會咁superficial (生得高=mature?), 但我估學校不想收太矮細的孩子，只因怕他們追不上學習，或者容易被大隻的孩子擊倒，最後失去自信，影響成長。所以ESF不是「不收」他們，而是「等」他們夠成熟了才升上小學。相反，在local面試，生得高是個劣勢，因為老師見到生得矮小而講野又叻的就會嘖嘖稱奇，樂意俾offer，而沒有發覺這些小朋友可能比生得高的細B大上至少半年。
