HKIS, their tuition invoice is expected to be sent out on the 9th, so offers should go out right around that time.  Look out for their email for the offer!  Good luck!

Heard (not officially from the school) that they received ~450 applications this year

No, that has nothing to do with who is staying or leaving R1.  All the R1 spots (165 if I am not mistaken) will be availalble for the new school year.  First batch of offers will go out in early March and payment is due by the end of March shall you decide to take the offer.  Then more offers will go out later if spots are still available.

Cuz we are applying for R2 so wonder if they need to confirm the number of place available first as maybe some R1 kids don’t plan to stay for R2?

Yes some offers are out to those who interviewed before CNY. There is another round of interviews this coming Saturday.
