Your situation is better than mine.
My humble advice: go to English-medium kindergartens instead of Biligual kindergartens. Anfield, ESF, Kingston are fine. Let the Filipino maid teach your child English (if she has the qualification, I know some of them do). Try enter ESF at K1 then you will follow an easier path.
If you are not native speaker it's better to speak in your native language to a small kid. It's better for them to learn from school. My English is not bad but since I speak to other family members in Cantonese, my son (now 4 years old) now refuse to talk to me in English. He prefers to speak English to the true native speakers
為左阿仔入到IS,我同老公都同佢講英文,但我有點後悔,因佢而家只同我講英文,而入左IS後,我地只同佢講廣東話。我覺得最有效的方法係送佢去English medium pn and kindergarten. 一般IS都會睇家庭背景同理念是否同學校一致,見你比小朋友講English pn,會加D分。我指嘅係pure eng base pn,而唔係half chinese half eng.
總之家長密切留意自己小朋友情況,見步行步,如你自己過衡量利弊,認為有需要在家講英文亦非不可。咁細個嘅小朋友,最鍾意嘅人係媽媽,始終媽媽同佢用英文溝通會俾到小朋友好大動力講英文。想同時保持小朋友中文發展,可考慮好多人證實成功嘅一親一語one parent one language方法,但亦非金科玉律,都有其他方法區分,例如家中某個時段劃定為英文時段。
