Stupid app that hits DSE exam centers 2024
As we all know DSE starts in early April every year. The Exam Authority introduced
the "i-Invigilator" app this year. The app allows teachers to verify candidates
check in with the "Check-in Smart" app. However, schools reported that a number
of invigilators failed to log into the system for the exams of the core subjects of
Chinese and English over the past two exam days (Thu & Fri). Some students also
said they couldn’t log into the self-check-in app “Check-in Smart.”
As a result, some invigilators had to take attendance manually at certain exam venues.
The Exam Authority explained the cause of the problem: the app saw "unsatisfactory
performance when handling a huge data traffic." Is this explanation ridiculous?
What a stupid app it is! It cannot handle only around 50000 users at the same time ?
How shameful!
Despite an updated version being released before the English language examinations
last Friday, the problem persisted, leading to a decision to suspend the use of i-Invigilation,
and invigilators will revert to manually verifying student identities and entering data.
I feel sorry for all the candidates taking the DSE this year. They must have been worried
by the stupid app and as a result their exam result might be affected. Poor them!
They cannot condemn the Exam Authority, can they?
