.........

Right timing for my son and my family before the university application.

I joint this 3 years ago, over 60 old boys from different universities to share their experience with juniors..... very useful info for overseas study. This year, they add back local universities.

Don't miss this.

Accoridng to your experience, is it too early for me to attend the talk, and should I attend next year?
回覆 ANChan59 12-9-21 16:44
I am not sure, but we need to book in advance.

You can call the Centre for Further Studies for clarification. If open for DBS parents, I recommend you to have a look, very impressive and useful advice.

Sure, will do?

But I won't go for small group discussion for OZ universities, so may only have overview on OZ only. Do you have an specific info or question in mind?

Talked to my son after dinner, he confirmed that just IB this year, 5 HKU Medic and 2 CUHK Medic.... One took Princeton and turned down HKU Medic, if not 8 Medic from IB stream plus 8 from D class, so at least 16+ for Medic......

A classic example, an IB senior got PG 33, the final is 41, he submitted the result to HKU's LLB and MBBS, he got both and then he took MBBS.

Hi ANChan59
As far as I know, for N-J applicants, HKU would not give an offer to the second choice in the priority list unless your first choice is rejected or you decline to accept the offer. How could the 41 score boy so fortunate that he obtained 2 offers at the same time so that he could choose between MBBS and LLB?

Do you know what kind of passport the Princeton boy holds? Is he the first in class? Do you know his statistics on IB, SAT (both I and II)?

According to my son, the senior knocked the door of both schools after releasing the IB result, it seems a few seats available due to some students take up better offers from overseas universities.

I heard about that from other students from other schools, they said so many spaces this year. Originally only 320 per year, this year 840,,,,,,

No idea about his passport.

Yes, he is the first in class for years.

IB PG 42/42, final 45/45, SAT 2300+.

For LLB, HKU requires 41 score. My good friend's son, a Sevenoaks student, obtained 39 and failed to meet the requirement of HKU LLB, but he eventually settled at UCL LLB which required only 38.
Yes, it is a golden year to apply for MBBS. My daughter's classmate was offered by CU 4 days after the commencement of term to study MB ChB. She immediately flied back from Toronto and attended CU this Monday, a week after the official commencement day.

Thanks. I ask simply because of curiosity. My daughter has 3 classmates admitted to Princeton this year. They all hold US passports.
回覆 Shootastar 12-9-22 10:45
With this statistics, I would not be surprised even if he does not hold an US passport. But I think he should also have a brilliant list of leadership and services.

I also aware some IS, ESF and UWC students can get in Ivy, based on their excellent academic achievement, ECA / CAS and the most important factor is they are holding US/UK passports.... Similar case for scholarships.

I also posted a summary table of UWC internationally, only LPC differentiate local and overseas students results. Also, I found 3 UWC  have pre-schools and schools, different college have different age requirements..... Interesting.

The CAS of IBDP is sufficient...... I mean in DBS IB stream.

My son's CAS updated report is excellent and achieved the 8 dimensions......
