Teachers and tutors

熱度 3已有 200 次閱讀 13-3-14 08:21 |系統分類:教育

Had an interesting conversation with a friend of mine on "teachers and tutors".  She opined that teachers are more professional and care more for students.  Having worked at both a school and a tutoring centre- I responded that it was a rather biased view and that it really depended on the individual teacher or tutor in question.

I mentioned that I caught up with two ex-colleagues lately, one kept talking about the needs of his students and which university they should attend (despite it being his birthday dinner) and another kept complaining about hers and the hassle of marking papers.  Guess which is the teacher and which the tutor?

I have a friend who owns a tutor house and I must say the care and attention she pays worth far more than her tuition.  She matches her primary six students to their perfect school and she guides them through the process.  She throws parties for the kids after exam to let the kids unwind. And if one or two of them need special encouragement, she wouldn't mind bringing them to lunch buffet even for just the slightest improvements on grades. On countless nights she works till dawn on her own "test paper" just to get the kids ready for the real one. All in all, she is a tutor whose heart is not a bit less of a teacher's.
