Mine too. He's shy all the way since 2. However, since he was 4, he has joined speech competition, so he gets used to joining these kind of competitions every year, esp. his elder sister always joins every year and gets awards often, he admires her. This year, he gets award for the first time in HKSMA. He is very satisfied.
I don't expect him to be very keen on recitation as he's not that kind personality, however he's not reluctant, and still willing to do so, so I don't send him to private teacher, but try it on our own. I just wish him to continue with public speaking so that in the future, at least, he's not reluctant to speak publicly, winning awards are just the side benefit. More important, is to let him build experience with public speaking and gain self confidence as he grows. Nothing more precious than these.
