Thank you for sharing. I shared your view that the financial burden is not low even for middle class.
Regarding your last paragraph, the school only mentioned that there are 104 primary school places while there are only 60 kindergarten places, giving the parents an impression that the admission rate will be higher. However, kindergarten principal mentioned that kg students has to go through interview for P1 admission and the selection criteria include academic performance in kg, SPECIAL TALENTS, xxxx and the last item on the slide is 'connection with the school'. So, I just wonder if ssgc kg students can only get more marks in the LAST item 'connection with the school'. The principal does not mention that the items on her slide are listed in the order from most important to least important but usually the first few items are more important, right?
A parent in kindergarten session explicitly asked about the chance of promotion of the 2014 K1 students (just received offer a few weeks ago) to primary if the elder sister (also in ssgc kg now) are admitted to ssgc primary next week, Under existing system, the younger daughter will be surely admitted in the discretionary stage if her elder sister is studying in ssgc primary. However, the council told her that they are now looking after 60 students, not just one or two students (means minority with sibling in primary). So, I can feel that there is no sibling priority.
If other kg parents have different interpretation, please correct me.
