I made a four-page portfolio:
1. parents' letter
2. reference letter from kindergarten
3. list of prizes, list of extracurricular activities and strips of photos at prize presentation ceremonies and at performances
4. four selected certificates in one page

Keypoints:
be concise and precise
don't make whoever reading it think it's a waste of time
make it eye-catching
underline or highlight main points
arrange your lists according to the school's prefences
parents' letter should be tailor-made for the school, which means
you should understand the school you are applying

4 certs in one page is quite ok. Actually all awards and achievements were listed out in P.3. Printing out the certs is just to make sure the busy headmaster won't miss them. In other words, simply to attract the headmasters to read our portfolio.
