What are you looking for in a school.  How do you feel about the school when you visited?

Conduct of the student is almost the most important part for me in choosing the school for my daughter.
Thats why I'm asking hows the feedback of the SJS and RC.

Simply put, Shatin Junior School is an international school while Renaissance College is an "international style" local school, I'm sure you can make the right choice based on this difference.

"At capacity, 70 per cent of students enrolled must have one parent with Hong Kong Permanent Resident status."

Note para.6.  So all ESF schools are local schools?

I would take his point as RC is an international school for local families.

Don't get me wrong.  I agree that there are more local families in RC but just want to say that his statement is invalid.  If you compare RC Vs Island School or South Island School, then yes, the ratio of local families in RC is a lot higher but with SJS, I don't see  such BIG difference there.

You could say that BHS and KJS all look very Asian too.

I think that statement is made in an attampt to convince the government that since now 70% of ESF students are HK permanent residents, they should really enjoy the same kind of finicial support from the govt. just like local children who go to local schools.

Yes, agree with you but according to Fattydaddy's statement, 70% of Hong Kong Permanent Residents meaning the school is a local school.  I think I didn't misunderstand his statement, right? What I am trying to tell him is that even expats could be Permanent Residents, then how could he make such statement??  Regarding CEO ESF's message, I don't think they could 'make up' figures, right? but it must be truth that 70% of the ESF students are in fact Permanent Residents, no matter if they are ASIAN looking or actually local Chinese.

Yes, you are right. It is the curriculum that matters, not the demographics.

Correct, the curriculum differs too ...

Renaissance College
---------------------------
We also offer one of the strongest Chinese language programmes in the international education system and are the only school in Hong Kong to offer the DP Theory of Knowledge (ToK) taught in Chinese and English.

ESF
-----
ESF has traditionally taught the National Curriculum of England and Wales

So, if Chinese is a major concern, you know which to choose {:1_1:}

Hehe, I know someone will probably pick on me for my (over) simplifications, but here goes ...

Shatin Junior will probably produce a GwaiMui of Asian appearance, while Renaissance might produce a Westernized Hongkonger. The latter is likely to retain more of the traditional Chinese values and be more disciplined but perhaps less out-going.

People can debate for hours over what exactly is an international school, but sometimes complex issues can be made clearer by thinking in simple terms {:1_1:}
