Very funny as it goes when I read the posts here (though not going through all of them yet). This reminds me of an incident in my good old days when I was a F.6 student. We had an interclass debate and I represented our class to be one of the debating team members (gosh, for the first time in my life!). We, as the affirmative side, narrowly beat our neighbouring class (with members coming from DBS, Maryknoll Convent and St Mary's). I must say they had very good debating skills, not to mention their English proficiency. However, I remember the captain of our honourable opponent exaggerated things unnecessarily (e.g. she said, "You are no doctors and we are no fools. How should we believe in you"). She did have an excellent command of English and her thought went swiftly too, but there was just too much unnecessary exaggeration (btw, hope she's not reading this now).
Yes, we need to be assertive when protecting our interest (as what we bravely did in the July 1 rally in 2003). However, in a setting like BK, I have always wanted a cosy and accommodating environment for sharing among parents to the benefit of one another. |
