Fully agreed with what you said.
 
It’s very true to say that it is the golden period for young kids to learn foreign languages and most of them are fast learners.
It’s also a good thing if our children can master a third or even a fourth language up to certain level.
As you said, our children really need strong language and presentation skills in order to compete effectively in the “global village” in future.
On average, I also notice that girls can master languages a bit better than boys whereas boys seem to be better in Maths and handling machines!!    

In order to enhance your daughter’s level in French, one good idea is to make friend with flostangraphy’s son and try to speak French to him in the school campus from September onwards!!  
As you know well, language proficiency is just a matter of practice!!

she watched Toy Story III recently and  found it very funny when Buzz spoke Spanish.  She asked us if she can study Spanish..................

I guess it will be too confusing if she studies French and Spanish at the same time.  Maybe we will let her to take some spanish classes couple years later.

Yes, I would also imagine that it will be too confusing for a kid to learn 3-4 languages at a time.
A better strategy is to build solid foundation on the two core languages (i.e. English and Chinese, including Putonghua) first.
At the same time, we can let our children learn either French/Japanese as a third language with some exposure gradually.
After they can master the third language up to certain level, we may then let them try a fourth language (i.e. it could be Spanish) few years later.
 
Ideally, if our children can really master English, Chinese,French and Spanish up to
satisfactory level, they can then do international business with the whole world or hopefully get a decent job in the United Nation!!

i agree that the buzz spoke spanish is very funny!!! mes fils etaient "mort de rire" (a very common french expression of "laugh over load" means laugh until dead!!! )

we will be so happy to let our sons to play with yours!! my wife usually makes them progammes for the week when they are in half day kindergarten. they have playday with friends during afternoon 2 or 3 time in the week. so they play with their friends who speak french, english and cantonese quite frequently since 2 years.

we may try to arrange that in the coming year if you like! and moreover, our homes are not that far!!

where do you work, by the way? maybe we will call you to join our tsl parents lunch next time?! so we are not in minority with daddycool...
