Alan : I don't know either. Schools usually adopt two different methods to teach kids' English. One is 'Letterland approach' and the other is 'Phonics Approal'. York says that they are using both approaches simultaneously. I doubt it is why they call it 'whole language approach'. May be we have also to check it up with the school.
2./ York'網頁介紹" 英國劍橋少年英語考試(CYLET)"...我想多了解Cambridge English 在York的角色, 當然, 能讓小朋友考到國際認可學歷, 當然高興, 但我擔心的是, 學校會否只著重操練考Cambridge試, 而否忽略了其他幼兒課程  還是學校的課程, 與坊間幼稚園的不遑多讓, 只是學校會推薦小孩去考試???
Alan : They treat CYLET as extra-curriculum activities, instead of core subject, which carries additional cost. They encourage students to participate the course because they believe the qualificatios can be beneficial to your kids in competing for a seat with famous primary schools.
3./ 有人講, 考Cambridge試, 要去出面的找, 是什麼意思? 是否此課外活動的收費亦很貴, 唔參加課外活動, 是否都可考到CYLET??? 如果同出面的幼稚園比較, 即使幼稚園的英文程度很高, 是否都要有好像York的專門訓練, 才可以考到CYLET?
如果報了坊間幼稚園, 再在外面的補習學校考CYLET會好的, 或是在York直接考CYLET會好的?
Alan : I can't get the exact meaning of '考Cambridge試, 要去出面的找' either. I admit that York's cost for CYLET is quite high. But the case is that I've also investigated into the fact that if other tutorial schools can train my kid for CYLET but manage to find that they can only accept my kid at P.1, instead of K2 as York does. Maybe this is the reason for the higher cost. If someone can find a school that can admit my daughter at K1 for the CYLET course, pls let me know. I want my kid do the test as early as possible.
