For my son's case, his "poo-poo" is more regular (almost at the same time everyday) and normal in color after taking Culturelle as compared with Mindlinx and Biokult.  I did not try any other brand yet but I think I will switch to Probio-gold at next round.

I usually switch the probiotic on monthly basis so that it will be easier to remember.

My son is now GFCF for 10 months.  I start letting him have Peptizyde and No-fenol regularly from February 2006.  I give him only very low doses, half capsule each time and 2 times a day.  For details about the products, please click here.  

Peptizyde is for better digestion of gluten, casien, soy and meat proteins.  No-fenol is for the digestion of fruits and vegetables.

In some occasion, gluten / casien may be unavoidable, e.g. joining party.  Then I'll let my son to have Peptizyde right before the meal.  No negative effect for the occasionally non-GFCF after taking enzymes.  My son digests vegetable poorly and after the no-fenol, I can know his digestion is much better from his stool.

I believe why my son's mercury level is still high due to fish consumption as well (1st hair test: red level 7.2, norm: 0.4 to recent urine test: yellow level 13, norm: 5 after DMSA).  After we start biomedical treatment, we cut the fish consumption (daily before biomedical treatment) but still have fresh local fish and frozen fish as my son really loves fish very much.  He is GFCF, I also cut egg and soy, so it is really difficult (both for me 見佢無mug野食 and my son) to cut fish.  For egg, I resume it for him after 6 months after the food allergy test, his skin became itchy again.  For soy, I resume beancurd, may be due to Peptizyde, no negative response so far (touchwood!).  May be I need to cut the fish further.

For chewables, it is available in Little Giant.
I haven't tried the chewables, I bought the capsule thro' internet.

BTW, I also want to know the taste and textures of chewables.  Justin 2002, any idea?

Chewables (for AFP peptizyde, Zime Prime & No-fenol) are all good taste.  My son loves Zime Prime most but least with AFP.

I tried all three of them myself and found really acceptable to most children.  Zime Prime looks and tastes like milk tablet while No-fenol tastes like fruits.

However, I still keep one box of AFP powder which I used to add into rice milk when he is reluctant (too lazy) to eat the chewable one!

I have told Dr. Trodd that my son is taking enzymes and he seems agreeable.  At least no -ve comment! I bought the first lot of chewable enzymes online (quick and good service) and later from Little Giant.

Don’t know where can we buy no-fenol (capsule / powder form) in HK.  May be you can ask Little Giant ordered for you.  I just ordered online and received it a few days only.  The cost is around US$45 for 2 bottles + postage US$8.5.

As chanchanboy mentioned, it is also very quick if you order online but only I prefer to buy it locally if available.  Cost is almost the same.

Autism Study on Promising Supplement Approved

Natural Cellular Defense (NCD), a safe, natural, inert mineral supplement has generated many  encouraging reports from parents of autistic children. NCD has attracted the interest of some of the leading autism researchers and physicians. A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study designed to evaluate the benefits of NCD Zeolite on Autism Spectrum Disorders was approved by BioMed IRB on June 7, 2006.

BioMed IRB of San Diego, California has approved a clinical trial that seeks to evaluate the benefits of adding a patented supplement, NCD zeolite, to the diet of children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Natural Cellular Defense is purified clinoptilolite, a type of zeolite, suspended in solution.  The zeolite is purified using a patented process and named NCD ZeoliteT.

This form of zeolite is one of the few negatively charged minerals in nature, and it has a microscopic honeycomb-like crystalline structure of cavities and cages.  Animal studies show that they have the ability to attract, trap, bind and remove various heavy metals and toxins such as mercury, lead and arsenic.

The study's eighty autistic children will be divided into two groups. One group is receiving the NCD zeolite and the other the placebo for ninety days. Both groups will be measured using a variety of established instruments for autism diagnosis and treatment evaluation. Further, since other animal and human studies with zeolite have demonstrated the ability for zeolite to remove heavy metals, a portion of the participants will receive a series of urine excretion tests designed to detect levels of heavy metal excretion.  If previous studies in adults hold true for these autistic children, the researchers may see excretion rates as high as 10 times over their baseline.

At the end of the ninety day study period, those receiving the placebo will then begin taking the NCD and be tracked for ninety more days.

Two sites have been approved so far. In Plano,Texas, Dr. Seshagiri Rao, a Board Certified Pediatrician is the lead investigator. Professor James Adams, PhD will conduct the study data analysis. Dr. Adams has previously published studies on the high level of mercury toxicity common in many autistic children. 我嗰仔都有食zyme prime同no fenol, 不過個份量只係每餐各半粒, 所以我買咗capsule form而冇買chewable.  我想問吓d chewable tablets容唔容易分成半粒?  因為如果阿仔肯"chew", 好味的話, 佢會食得好快. 我又唔駛將capsule拆開溝果汁/水俾佢, 又要肯定佢一定要飲哂咁煩.
我阿仔食nordic的dha softgel, 就當"糖"一樣咁食, 又快又食得開心, 不過仲未教到佢"吞"丸.
唔該先.
