I think if you want to have higher chance to get into CCKG next year, it is better to choose St. Catherine for K1 because most of the students in CCKG were come from St. Cat.

Hi PimPimBo,

My son is now studying K1 in Kentville and he has just been offered a place in CCKG. So in my opinion, it doesn't matter which kinder the child comes from. As soon as the child shows self-confidence, active, polite and cheerful, it would give a good impression to the Headmistress. Of course, the child has to communicate with the Headmistress in English (just simple english is fine). Another factor of success is "luck" which we can't really control. So take it easy as I keep telling myself. If my son is accepted, wow that's great and thank God for that. If my son is rejected, it's ok and my son has already done his best.

1) 請問平時在學校時, 老師及同學是否都會/要用英文交談? 班主任是否都是外籍老師?


2) 除DBS外, CCKG的學生是否都像Kentville一樣受其它私小, (如宣小, 聖方濟各...等) 歡迎呢?  請問除DBS外, 以往的畢業生通常能考到幾間小學呢?

There are three classes (Love, Faith and Hope) in each level (Lower and Higher).  Each class has 28 students, grouped into three - three separate tables.  As I understand, there are three to four teachers in a class, looking after at least one a table.  The classteacher of my kid is an english speaker (I think an Indian).  The other teachers in the class are mainly Chinese.  I am not sure about the rest of the classes.

Today, I call the school up for confirming they have received my letter of acceptance.  From the school voice recorder, I heard that they teach music, art and drama in English also.  Is it true that they teach dramer?  Does anybody know how often is the lesson?


Besides, my son is assigned to "Love" class, anyone is the same?

Hi Boyma,

In CCKG, students are not compared with one another. No ranking is given, no award or certificates of merits either. Students learn at their own pace, so 'theoretically' competition does not exist.

Everyone enjoys the classes - little homework, no exam, no test (except Chinese dictation) in Lower KG.

I tend to say that the students in CCKG do not have any pressure from the school, but often from the parents themselves.

Yes, there is Drama lesson. But do not imagine your child performing like Andy Lau or Anita Mui on the stage. More exactly, it is a role-play.

Hi Ricka,

I am not sure whether there is role-play in Lower KG since my child had never reported to me that there was.

In Upper KG, I can recall my child played Little Red Riding Hood and the Billy Goat Gruff. There should be more as there are 28 children altogether in a class.

I'm very glad that CCKG teaches drama, no matter it is professional or not.  What I want is only training my son's expression and confidence.  In fact, I have been looking for some drama class for him.  Now, I can save the money! :>
