Longman,
Don't worry! I have similar experience last year.
Very often the teacher will ask the kids to bring school stuff either for use in art & craft (like the paper roll of the toilet paper) , special theme activity (like candies to build up a supermarket). In fact the teacher would tell the kids some days before (for simple things like toilet paper roll, may be just one day notice). In K1, teachers would give notice of anything that required in advance in the diary but in K2 (as I discussed with the teachers) they hope that the kids can try to remember what the teachers told them and do as they were told.
The teachers told me that they would in fact prepare some spares in case the kids could not bring back what they were told to. The whole process is intended to train them to follow instructions and repeat the words to the parents.
Maybe you can ask your daughter to ask the teachers for more details as to when the stuff are required.
