We live in Kln side, it rather save a lot in $$ and time to study at CKY than the previous school, you know, the bus fee is $1300 before if I did not remember wrong. But there is another thread here saying there is school bus from HK to school this year, so please go to check out. Actually no ECA will be arranged after school. ECA is arranged on every Sat between 9-1 (depends which activities you select). The musical instrument learning is taken during the music lesson, not part of ECA. For ECA on sat, they provide limited routes running from some MTR stations to school. you will be charged for extra cost (not much).
Well, since the first formal assessment is coming next week, I don't know if they will distribut a report to us. but the teacher will let you know if your kid need specific attention in which subject (if she needs) And i know they will arrange some remedial class study for student who is weak in some subject to before the assessment. Also you may know your kid's english level by seeing which level of books she is reading. The standard varies a lot, some still reading level 7 or 8 (total 23 levels) but some already reading Chapter book.
Regarding whether they speak in English/PTH during the short recess (15mins) and long recess (45 mins), I would say some still speak in Cantonese. But most of the games they played during recess are in English (taught by the teacher). Other than that, they were given A LOT of opportunities to speak up in class in English / PTH. This is what I saw during the class observation arranged by school twice a year.

Lui,
Got your PM. Really appreciate your sharing.
May I ask if you live in HK side? How's the school bus schedule for you? I heard that there is no school bus service if you stay behind for ECA. ...
