Hi all CKY supporters,

I want to know the standard of the Chinese and English in CKY. Is it very difficult and many writing and dictations?
My daughter is studying international school now and apply P1 in CKY. But her English is ok but chinese is very bad. If she really accpet by CKY, can she catch up with the chinese standard. I'm also afraid her English will be not better as before.
Any CKY mums' child are also studying international kinders before and now study this school. Pls share...Tks!

Think quite a few parents share your concern about the 'bilingual' standard of CKY students.

Languages are learnt and refined through daily use and practice.  For bilingual education, it's reasonably expected that there's a trade-off.  One can say CKY is neither here nor there.  I would never expect the kids, in general, to be equally competent compared with IS students in English AND with local school students in Chinese.  Think it's simply too high an expectation to be realistic.

If CKY admits your kid, it implies s/he is up to it and you shouldn't doubt whether your kid can 'catch up' with the curriculum.  True that there are kids who are quite advanced in either or both languages even in Y1.

You are right, your daughter's English competency is likely to suffer if she studies in CKY rather than continuing her studies in IS.  On the other hand, her Chinese will benefit somehow.  It's a give and take.

Bilingual school and ideal school for Hong Kong child.  Lastly, I hope CKY will accept my daughter and she will have a happy school life and will learn happily there for 12 twelve years. Tks!

舊年當然係指2007年9月!
12xx人係舊年聽返o黎o既申請人數字, 唔記得從何而來lu!

我想2008年9月入讀小一的申請人數也是12XX人，因為我是在交申請表截止前五分鐘交表，申請編號約是125X。
不知今年09-10的申請人數有多少呢？

上星期六到了學校走了一趟，學校的顏色與鄰的豪宅相當配合。論面積，以中小學來說則不算很大，但環境認真清幽。泳池是玻璃幕牆，亦已注了水，可能很快可以啓用，並且，有一間tuck shop，星期六返學，可以買東西吃了！反之，對面的露天運動場，好像有點日久失修的情況，要好好維修一下了。

因不敢到樓上的樓層看看，故未能報告內裏情況。

I talked to the teacher last week. She told me most of the facilities are close, only classrooms are ready, therefore kids can't use any in this moment.
Regarding the H1N1 matter, according kids can only play in a limited area, therefore is more easy control for school. School will keep cleaning to avoid anything happen.

Yes I agree with kyliema, someone should maintain the playground in the opposite side of the school, it looks bad.

Dear experienced parents,

My girl is an insert student in p2 this year. May I ask if the Sat class is for ECA? Is this compulsory for all students and how about the transportation arrangment? Does the school provide services on Sat? Thanks all

Hi ,
Yes Sat class is for ECA and it is not compulsory. If you join the ECA, the school bus will pick you up in certain location, but not downstair your home. For example I live in Beacon Hill, so the bus will pick up in Kowloon Tong KCR station in certain time and of course you need to paid extra transportation fee.

My girl is also in P2 this year, may be they are classmate, keep in touch.

My girl is in 2A. She met her old classmate (from the same class the same school) in the same class too!!
How about your girl?

我女兒在2F，她說包括她只有4個小朋友是原班升上。那是否A班是最叻的？

我們是插班生,不知學校如何編班.但我相信他們不會分精英班.因他們的教學理念不是這樣.反而是把不同程度的學生打散.你不用介意是F班.相信只是英文字代號而已.

我仔同妳囡囡同班呀! 多多指教!
我覺得唔係A班就係代表最叻! 坊間實在對編班有太多揣測, 好多唔同版本! 究竟點解今年又要重新編班? 點解只係Y2, 3, 6 & 8?
不過, 重新編班都有佢好處, 佢o地又識到一班新朋友!

想問一下Desktop dictionary 是否可以是任何出版社or 是要用商務出的? 可否告之是 which level. my girl is in p2. many thanks

CKY都很注重中文的，而且常鼓勵小朋友閱大文書，還推行中文書閱讀計劃，每天將小朋友的閱讀情況張貼，我見有些同學可能母語是英文，真的一本都沒有，或是中途便放棄了。因此我本人認為都是需要有一定的中文基礎為佳，不然父母可辛苦了.

My son is a new P2 boy. I also want to know if I need to buy the desktop dictionary by myself. As far as I know, the other P2 students have got the books already as they are all placed in the magazine trays.
