大家好,我剛剛入來St Cat 07-08度睇一睇,原來咁熱鬧,我都想識多d家長交流吓,見你哋好似有function呀?但太多past history啦,睇唔曬,因我是在職媽咪,唔係太多時間,唔知有無NE家長呢?我都想了解多d阿女的學校生活.
因阿女都係唔多識表達學校生活比我聽.
最近派成績表,阿女中文就幾好,差不多8成都有4分,但自理就麻麻哋得3分,英文speaking就大部份都3分,Ms Brand打tel 比我傾開,佢叫我多d同阿女講Eng,其實我知阿女有時都唔識講,但有時又好叻咁講倒complete sentences,我都見佢有好大進步,唔知其他同學仔d Eng 係咪好勁呢?
請指教

Nice to meet you.

My daughter is also studying in NE class.  She is sitting in red table.  How about your daughter?  As I'm a working mami and my daughter doesn't tell much of her school life so I have to gather informaiton from this forum.  

My standard of my daughter is similar to yours.  As my maid takes care of my daughter in the daytime, that may explain why she doesn't know how to take care of herself.  Is the same situation apply to your daughter?

My daughter's english standard is not good, why Miss Brand not call me !!   Nonetheless, does Miss Brand has any good suggestions to prove the english standard of your daughter?

My daughter also sit in red table in the
past.
Recently, she said she changed to other table now (May be blue table).
But she cannot expaln to me that is it all schoolmates also change the table or only she change the table. She cannot answer me clearly.
I will ask her again tonight.

I attended the attitude session in Australia international school few week ago. After the briefing, I wanted to talk with Ms Tong but she was busy and said she will talked with me in the school picnic. Unfortunately, my daugher was sick for a week and cannot go to picnic. So I miss the chances to talk with both teachers and the parents. After that, Ms Tong and Ms Brand called me in the same week and talked about the homeworks. Surely, I got the chances to talk with them.
Ms Tong said my daugher is quite OK and can catch up what she teach in the lesson. But also advise me to help her to review the teaching material but no need to put a lot of effort and pressure. But Ms Brand said my daugher cannot express what she needs occasionally. She advised me to teach her some vocabulary and enrich her words, also talk more with her in English at home. As my servant is indonesia. So no English practice can be offered to her in daytime. I only can talk with her when I back.
How about your daugher ?
Any comment from teachers in the school accessment report ?
Do you find St Catherine can offer a good training to them ?
My daugher attended the pre-nursury in other school last week so I think she may learn them in the past. Honestly, I saw a great improvement in her English recently. She is willing to talk with me in English although sometimes, she cannot express her ideas clearly and always use the body language and make up some English to express her ideas.
But my daugher also said she don't know what is talking about by Ms Brand. When I asked her whether you know what is talk about by Ms Tony. She said "Yes".
As she also attended the pre-nurseury in other school with Native English teacher for a year. She said she knew what is talking about by the previous Native English Teacher. I guess she cannot hear clearly due to Ms Brand speaks too fast. During the tel conversation with Ms Brand, I also got this problem.
So I write my comment in the handbook and advise  Ms Brand to make some improvement in the speed. Can you ask your daugher the same question and whether she gets this problem ?
Otherwise, do you join any activity or course in the lesiure time ?

Dear Chingyumm,

I shared the same feeling with you.  Although my son could not communicate in English well because we used to talk in chinese at home. But my maid is philippines and talked to him with english and we sometimes communicate with him in simple english.  My son said that Ms Brand is talking too fast hence he could not catch up with her.  

For the change of the sitting plan, all the three tables had been rotated.  I suspected it may be allow a fresh feeling for the children and also let them to change the direction of the sight line after a period of time.

Dear Chingyumm,

My maid speak English with my daughter but my daughter response in Cantonese. I always remind my maid to ignore her if she speaks in Cantonese and teaches her how to express herself in English.  However, my maid always forgets my reminder.

My daughter sometimes mentions about Miss Tong but never talk about Miss Brand.  I think she may not understand what Miss Brand is teaching.   If she has no improvement, I think I have to join some English playgroup/workshop.
