Start from 2008, there will be 5 p.1 classes only.And mostly 40 in a class.
So, the chance is slimmer than previous years!!

so, the sucessful rate is pretty low. My son didn't get one anyway, but still hope for the best for the 3rd round.

Dear Centre and nattymom,

How are both of you ?  Since Miss Shu called and remind me about the birthday arrangement so I asked her about the first round result in class A.  She didn't tell the exact no., she only said very few of them.  Even a boy's father is old boy, since he is not the first son so he has not been accepted.

So 6 (B) + 1 to 2 (A,B,C) by guessing, it may only be 11 to 14 only !!!  

Correct me if I am wrong. Does SJPS accepted 88 students in the first round ?

I haven't made an exact count but heresay that there are 90 being accepted. Learning from other moms, the competition is really keen and there is not a single case that kids failed to get a seat though his father are old boys.

Dear St. Jo mum,

My son is now K2 at St. Jo.  He is my 1st child, not a catholic, father is not an old boy.  Then, his mark is only 15, right?  I think his chance is low for the 1st round.  :cry:

Hey, I remember that our class teacher say there will be 2 assessments in a year.  I guess 1 of the assessment will be around December.  Will the teacher give parent notice about the date of the assessment?  What is the format of the assessment?

I think your assumption is right. My guess is also around 11-15. A boy from class D told me that there are 6 boys in his class are accepted too.
The chance of "knocking the door" becomes ridiculously  slim. But the worst thing  is I didn't enroll my boy into any DSS nor private school. I can only sit and wait for the miracle to knock at my door!!!

My case is similar with yours. But, I think we need to be optimistic. Though I am very sure that I would have failed in 1st round as my son only got the 1st child mark, I was disspointed and upset on the announcement date. It's lucky to have other parents' support, I try to take it easy. If we do our best, our little boys are still unable to get a seat, we should let go.

The teacher will send you the notice. I am not sure if the exam date is before or after Luner New Year holiday. It will take about 10 calender days with the subjects Chi, Eng, Math, Regonizing words both in chinese and eng, General knowledge, Religion, Writing, Dictation as well as sports, arts and music. My K.3 exam is approaching. Take it easy, take it easy!

Thanks for your information.  I was expecting it will happen before x'mas.  My son is a "small son", I want to help him more beforehand.  Also, will the teacher request them to tell story (K2 level)?

BTW, how many students are in K3 now?  I hear-and-say that the competition for getting a seat in SJ Primary is keen this year.  For my son's year, they only accepted 80 kids.  Is it the same no. in K3 now?

For the story part, according to my son, the teacher will tell him a story and then ask him questions. The stories as attached in the Chinese text books will be included. To be honest, I don't really get the full picture about this as my boy is unable to tell me thoroughly.

Since 06-07 (i.e. the boys who are now in K.3), there have been 80 only students each form.

Thanks for your information.  So, 08/09 SJ Primary cut class from 8 to 5, and 07/08 K3 (your son's year) also cut seats (from ? to 80 students), right?  Hope that the end result will be the same, i.e. over 90% SJ Kinder students can get a SJ Primary seat.
