Can't agree more, my daughter is in grammar school and all her friends have private tutoring, 2-3 lessons a week. I told my friends and they think i am lying! Most people think studying in uk is magically easy and happy ever after. It really depends on the kid. My daughter doesn't have private tutoring but she is working very hard, homework, tests and study.

My friend's daughter here on the contrary decided not to do any work, she is now in year 7, she barely has any homework, even if she does, she can just copy from her friends, I am sure she is having a good time. Her teacher said give her time to grow up and no need to worry. When she is more mature, she will discover her true passion. School grade is not the only thing in life, teacher said she might be able to pursue other interests later in life, the most important thing is not to put unnecessary pressure on her when she is still young. My friend said she just lazy around at home all day, sometimes she went out with her friends and play games. She misses homework handin date from time to time but it seems to be ok, teacher just advice her not to do that again.

I think there is pro and cons, like u don't pressurize the kid to do a lot of works but the kid has to have the initiative to do the work and has to have discipline. That is what I have observed so far.

Agree, there is no free lunch in the world.
I think it's not about "pressurising the kid" , is about how to motivate the kid. Traditional methods like grades and awards/certificates may not work in some kids, internal motivation is more important.

我這邊學區房講緊二千幾尺屋，要交兩萬幾美金(地稅＋學校稅），其他家庭有四人以上會住大點就交接近三萬蚊稅或以上
我小朋友香港讀is, 交稅後唔覺得比起讀is 慳咗。
另外課程方面這邊緊湊過之前讀IS

Uk State school VS Hong Kong IS 我一定會揀香港嘅IS.
其實英國人本身都唔會想揀state school. 因為non- selective, 所以學校裏面咩人都有，環境太複雜。
你見條片入邊讀state school 嗰啲小朋友個面口、氣場都唔同。
物以類聚，你唔會想自己小朋友入state school變成佢哋咁。

但如果係Uk independent school VS Hong Kong IS,
我就一定會揀英國私校，
始終校舍環境冇得比，個邊有大草地，有騎馬、馬球學，
香港IS 校舍即刻比下去。

但移英個cost 就變咗係20-30萬一年independent school +全家收入得返1/4 仲要full pay一 層貴區樓。
我自己就真係冇呢個能力，亦唔覺得有必要。

所以我選擇K1 起IS, 高中再去英國讀私校。

更嘲笑在香港讀IS是非常多X餘和愚蠢
認為香港的IS很快就被邊緣化

香港IS係唔會關門或變質的，因為香港有很多專業人士或者大機構嘅高管，佢哋一個月人工係幾十萬，等如去英國boarding school一年學費，香港嘅IS唔會因為多咗人移民而冇市場，不過由於香港政府入境同埋防疫措施比較嚴謹，有些銀行的高管已經去咗星加坡，咁樣可能會有少少影響到香港國際學校嘅入學率。但係其實世界各地的家庭都係會送孩子補習或參與活動，去加強入名U的競爭力，入到名U一定冇free lunch的，一些香港人以為外國讀書好free係錯覺，去到year 10/11,便一定要全力以赴，如果lower form 太free ,家長又唔理，咁會好大獲架⋯⋯

Thanks for sharing. But is Ben rose an extreme case ? It says over half of kids there are SEN kids. I am sure normal posh kids from private schools would find it hard to get along with the pupils there . It looks like a band 5 school in hk.

仲有，求學絕對係求分數，相比LS, IS會比較著重全人發展、自信心及溝通能力，再配合家長栽培,減少一些無聊嘅抄寫功課，著重寫作及溝通能力,有較多時間參與一些比較高質素的活動，不要為做而做，而係做到最pro。

Agreed,只可以用恐怖來形容片中間state school, 不過我參考片中被exchange 來自 private school 學生，他們所屬私立學校Warminster 畢業生入的大學和香港IS學生的destination 差不多，我諗香港IS和uk private/independent school 應差唔多 ，但片中間英國state school 有啲似香港local band 3-5….. as I said, it is entirely family’s choice whether they send kids to boarding school or they move there altogether , but if parents have high paying jobs in hk, it makes little sense to give up the roles here.但放棄香港高薪移民去英國讀間和片相約的免費state school是一個大錯特錯決定，但唔排除英國有些高水平state school,但要先做好功課

之前都打過比喻，人地鐘意坐business class, 有人會話「我比1/4價錢都係坐同一架飛機又去到目的地」，坐busi的人咁多餘又愚蠢，咁真係溝通唔到。
邊緣化又唔會，大陸都唔攪收外籍人士（包括港澳人士）的真國際學校，香港IS大都收70%外籍以上，多人掙的仍然多人掙住入，即係你見經濟點低迷都好，啲名牌有冇減過價？
又始终香港好多人仍然會大人留港搵錢享受低稅，小朋友讀IS大個boarding/出國讀大學，例如佢地計過可能一年交少的稅都夠小朋友讀多年IS, 跟本唔會稔咩「抵唔抵」免唔免費，所以人人有不同考慮，好難講邊樣好啲。
至於state school vs IS, 相信LS直接去state school 的家長滿意度會大啲，始終LS有功課測考語境課程等不利因素，去到state school 會覺得好好，但IS本身已經冇呢啲因素，其他因素又比較主觀，如果本身間IS都滿意又一條龍嘅，升中時唔係個個想玩操券升grammar school, 或者最明顯的分別係學費，如上都係睇個人覺得幾緊要。

人人考慮點唔同，family income 1mil同2mil已經好唔同，1個小朋友同2／3個又更加多考慮

Thanks for sharing and great documentary! Even the boarding school is not having a more stellar college placement compared to IS in HK, not to mention the state schools.I have done various research recently and below are the points I pay particular attention to:
For primary school
- course structure/syllabus
- ECA
- Teacher to student ratio
- Chinese

For secondary school
- Whether the system matches with your desired country for uni
- Leadership/soft skill Development
- College counselling support
- historical University placement

Considering tuition and being able to stay with the kids through teenage (our family values that), I would say IS in HK probably offers the best options available.
