My only concern is that one the kids have adapted English as their primary language and the school doesn't put extra pressure on them to master their Chinese, it will be hard to enforce their Chinese fluency especially the reading and writing part.  I know lots of foreign born Chinese and even 鬼佬who can speak fluent Chinese but don't know anyone who has taken Chinese as second language and yet still aced the reading and writing aspect of it.  I personally have high exepection on my kid's Chinese level, that's why kcis is still my number 1 target even after all the wonderful things I have heard from this forum about. Swck.

SWCK好多小朋友都是中國人面貌,但由於大家都是在學校說英語, 有的家長我聽出英語說得好FLUENT,而佢地小朋友英語說得好好,所以我不知有幾多家長是純中國人.

我家 Ryan 而家轉左校喇,去左 SIS,
始終想佢學好d 中文同埋可以上到中學,
不過係 SWCK 真係有很難忘又愉快的一年,
雖然佢只係讀左一年,不過我好記得last day 時,
學校有個好簡單的 Party,
個日老師們好開心咁"歡送"Ryan 同班中另一轉校的同學,
講左一些鼓勵的說話,
話佢地大個仔了, 要去 Big School...要好好學習之類,
聽到我都眼濕濕.....好感動,好warm...

agree with reneeleung.  I know kids who graduated from CIS, and I know kids who were in SIS primary then moved on to CIS.  I would definitely not rate their Chinese standard as "high."  I don't know about KCIS primary, but I used to know a friend whose son went to their kindergarten.  Her son does not speak Chinese at all, and even the mother said that English was still the primary language in school.  Perhaps it will change in primary school, so you may want to find out.  I met some kids from ISF primary, about 8 to 10 years old.  I think ISF probably has the best Chinese among all IS or IS-system schools.  Even those two girls I talked to prefer English and speak English exclusively!  Alternatively, Victoria could be something that works, but you have to sacrifice the English standard.

SIS is a good, but tough school.  My daughter's friend is there in PY2.  她們的功課好深!

人都係有惰性, 始終英文同中文同時學, 英文容易好多, 比你係小朋友, 學校兩樣環境都提供, 你都會揀英文.  要小朋友自行可以睇一個有趣嘅中文故事, 唔係個d悶死人嘅chinese first reader, 講真, 我阿女學左400個中文字都未睇得到呢個level!  有趣d嘅圖畫書, 要識嘅字真係好多, 我估冇六七百個根本睇唔到!  但係英文唔同, 學好左拼音, 再加d camera words, 就好似開左道magic door咁. 所以除非係返本地學校, 始終國際學校會好早教小朋友phonics, 要學識自己睇書好易, 除非你start Chinese really early, 呢個就係我嘅目標.  我希望阿女係六歲前學哂五百字先, 再go from there.  我阿仔下個月先四歲,而家已學左300字, 相信四歲半時會學哂五百個.  我問左好多家長, 到小朋友七八歲左右, 佢英文已強, 又有自主能力揀書睇, 好自然就唔再聽阿媽話, leisure reading只會揀英文書, 所以我覺得入is, 學好中文, 個key就係提早d學, 希望佢仲聽話, 英國又未學得咁好時, 中文已有一定程度.

之後就去返SWCK....
我都知辛苦...但....可行的嗎?

It really depends on your kid. My son (4yrs old) is doing KCS (am) and KCIS (pm). I only allow him to do so when we discovered that he did not sleep in weekends. So, you can observe your kid. But, meanwhile you can keep enrolling in LS until the end of summer 2012. See how your kid fares at that time

暫是來講,
我女weekend都要nap
不過有時只係一陣30min
有時就可以訓好耐, 2hr都得
我會交左以家返緊個間留位費先
出年先算..........

返2間, 中文係唔係真係會好d

I guess if children are exposed more in one language, they will be better than children who have little exposure. My boy is identified by KCIS as one of the few students who are more Mandarin literate. By the way, my boy still prefer English much more than Chinese

其實我大仔當時 K1 時都係上午一間 LS, 下午 SWCK,
我當年咁做係因為的一心想佢入 SIS,
所以要 train 好佢英文, 唔係 interview 一定唔成功,
所以就安排佢下午讀 SWCK,
但又怕佢考唔入, 要返轉頭讀 DSS/LS,
所以又 keep 住上午讀LS......
佢可以過渡到, 原因係佢2歲開始都已經唔需要 nap,
而每晚9pm 前一定會瞓覺,
不過,
咁如果你:
1. 其實已一心諗住佢讀 IS;
2. 純粹你想你個女學好d 中文而你自己又教到的話,
不如你自己教, 佢冇咁辛苦呀~

請開既工人下年年頭唔做
我99話幫我睇住先, 因為我女以家係返全日的
但如果只返swck, 我99要睇埋個早上, 我怕佢頂唔順, 又怕佢日日帶我女去飲茶唔健康

而係工人走左後, 我都會去請新工人
只怕請得唔好
我以家呢個好好,亞女好鍾意,
都唔知請個新既佢ok唔ok

我女以家都係9:30前訓的, 早上7:30起身,
學校下午有2hr 訓
不過我女大約訓1-1.5hr
