the English teacher said that theu use Book A, but I found that it is different from the textbook and workbook. Also, I don't know the teaching progress of the subject of computer. Any comments, please?
Sometimes I also found that the handwriting is too rigid. I think it is readable, it will be OK. Everybody know that a 5-year-old girl 's motor skill cannot fully developed, the line in English writing is too narrow. It is too demanding to write into a small narrow space.

Yes. My daughter is 5 3/4 years old.

I find that SC pays much attention on the writing. Actually, every subject has their teaching objectives. But I find that even Mathematics and dictation, my daughter's classmate can give the right answer, but she writes a larger number/ word ( out of the box or line), your marks will be deducted. the marks deducted is same to a one who gives a wrong answer.  Beautiful Writing is equally important or much important than a right answer.However, under such pressure, I find that she has a big improvement in handwriting.

我認為要求嚴格有其好處，你不是說女兒進步了嗎？學校不單教孩子知識，亦應訓練孩子們認真謹慎，對自己有要求。現今不少的家長(包括我自己)，已經太遷就兒女，如果學校也寬鬆，孩子們就很容易被寵壞，成不了大器。此外，報讀學校前，相信大家都已知悉學校的作風。多合作，少批評，才是上策。 :

Iam not giving any negative comments. I just tell the truth. I think writing is important. But every subject focuses on handwriting , no matter it is chinese, English or religion. But actually, writing is only one of the aspects in learning. Moreover, comparatively speaking, memory , analysius, comprehension, calculation...... are important in thinking. If one'  s writing is readable, caslculation is right,one should get mark. However, if only write a larger word (out of the space/box), it counts no mark. It is too harsh to a little girl, especially for those whose motor skill is not fully developed. For those Chinese writing, it is quite difficult to distinguish which is right or wrong. The printed word is different from the usual writing, even you check the dictionary, it cannot be absolutely right. To sum up, I just tell the truth and share my idea. I don't think that SC  is not a good school, but still has rooms for improvement.

Don't worry la, the marks of homework will not counted in tests or exams, my girl is in P.3 now, still lost marks on the "format" as set out by the teachers. Take it easy, trust your girl and give her times to adapt the new environment and rules.

Thank you for your advice, Ms Chan. Will the Chi. & Eng Dictation count in Exam/  school report? The English Quiz? I foind that my daughter only do it in lesson without telling the parents first. Will it count iin exam/ school report?Thank you for your valuable feedback.
My daughter is not taking the interview in St- paul co-ed. My second one is taking. I will talk in another coloum. It is not convenient talking here.

不用客氣，回想一年前女兒初轉校到SH，亦得到其他聖心家長(e.g. CCM & Sindy)不少幫助才能順利過渡。

試試答你的問題，其他家長請指正。

學校一年兩測兩考而成績表只會在兩次考試後派發。 每學期的測驗與考試成績會以40%/60%計算。 而測驗是沒有測中，英文默書的，所以那40%就會以該學期的默書平均分計算。 例如 ：該學期中文默書平均分為90分，而考試的中文默書為80分的話，那麼在成績表上默書一欄就會列為84分 (90 x 40% + 80 x 60%)。

Eng Quiz 或其他科目的小測是不會預先通知家長，分數亦不會計算在成績表上。 這些小測的用意只是評估學生的進度及對課堂上所教的理解吸收程度。 正如英文科主任所講，小朋友拿回家做的功課大多經過家長修改過，很難以此作為評估的。

Dear SH parents,

Can you share your comments on SH's homework pressure ? I see so many response here concerning the kid's home assignment. Is the workload high ? I'm considering this school for my girl but is wondering whether it will be too 'squeezed' or not.

By the way, anyone can share the interview experience ? Are parents being interviewed ? Is a personal profile helped ? Thank you very much in advance.

上午班而家學校隔一星期才黙書一次,不知為什麼?好像令到的學生十分櫴散,學校換了校長校學方式都唔知點?覺得學校缺乏動力和幹勁.

家長門有仼何意見呢?

It's not bad as there is no need for the girls to concentrate all their time to do revision for the contents of the dictations only.  I will try to teach my girl to understand that revision should be done from time to time even there is no dictation.

可能我比較懶
轉了隔星期默書我仲開心過隻女 我又唔覺得會懶散些，因為真係多了時間做其他野同睇課外書。

新校長無咩動力呀？我覺得佢ok呀，好親切，係學校見到我地呢d家長都主動過來傾計，其實好多學校都轉為無咁催谷，我真係覺得默得書多並不代表成績會好，我寧願多些quiz(唔駛溫 )會真係知道小朋友識幾多。

如果學校無催谷的學生, 就怕學校水準會下跌, 反過來如果學校催谷她們, 她們和家長水又辛苦, 其實做人真是難, 十分矛盾.

Dictation and lesser homework might not necessarily equate to drop in the school standard.  If quizzes can reveal the level of understanding amidst the students without the fears of testing, why not?    Isn't this also the trend in those new concept schools (assessement instead of tests)?

And we should actually applaud the school for making the changes considering that it has always been hailed as a traditional school.

I have already received the worksheet of social studies. To my great surprise, She needs my daughter using and writing a lot of words .Some words are very very very difficult  such as 能力、尊重、取笑、軀幹. I don't know if I need to ask my daughter memorizing the writing in the coming test.
Besides can you describe and introduce the format of test(Chi., Eng.,Maths. Social studies) some more although I know that the syallbus for the test will be notified 10 days before the test, I want to help my daughter making preparation first. thank You.

對不起，因為小女是插班入讀小二的，所以對小一的測驗形式不太清楚，但我經驗是試前的worksheet一定要溫，另外再+作業。

唔知有無其他媽咪可以幫到darkcoffee呢？

唔是所有題目都是填充, 亦有很多選擇題的. 不過基本的生字一定要識. 那麼你要幫她默中文生字一樣幫她默生字. 其實有的生字在幼稚園都學過, 應該識不要看少你的女兒.
