So far, it showed me that the requirment for students' Eng standard is rather high.  All questions in quiz are Eng and students need to read it all by themselves and write the answers.  Teachers would read through all questions AFTER quiz, as I known.

The Eng syllabus which is tailor-made by the NETs of SMC is so different to the syllabus of other schools.  It is arranged by TOPICS.  Stuents are encouraged to WRITE freely by using words / vocabularies that they learnt & known.   

Like my son, he can write essay in Eng for a whole page about Halloween Party, My Best Friend...etc.  Of course, there're still some wrong spelling and some grammatical errors, but it's OK.  At least, he's so willing to WRITE in Eng, SPEAK in Eng especialy at school and READ Eng story books.

As per my findings, SMC quite focus on developing students' languages, like Eng, Putonghua and French or other modern languages.  

All in all, my son is so enjoying the school life of SMC and willing to learn, to ask.  But he's 好大意同唔小心睇題目。  有時都俾佢激死！

我諗我個女都係唔太知野....佢只係關心自己拿不到100分.....

我個女在math quiz就正正錯左你地講既兩條題目,所以佢有d唔順氣,不過quiz總會有少少主觀,所以等佢自己諗下,下次點樣做得好d啦!
坦白講,小學有小學既遊戲規則,就等佢自己摸索啦!
我個女本G.S. 作業真係笑死我.....
e.g. you should have a good _____ for sleeping.
  個 standard答案係 posture, but我個女答"bed"

you should ____ your body.
standard答案係 protect,我個女答take care....

所以作業次次都拿不到A+! but在父母既角度,我極度欣賞我個女既自由答案!

如果我個女讀一般津校,相信會俾d嚴謹既老師打沉左!

Sara,

You girl is totally correct.  We need a good bed and we should take care of our body - logcially correct.  We should not discourage her thinking beyond the box (model answer) as long as she has the logic and reasoning.  They are not machines.

你係邊處得知你抽籤不成功？我只知之前有 notice 叫我地交錢同簽回條以作確認，但收唔到通知話無得去。點算，本周日就係 PTA 旅行。我仔仔仲好期待添！

本周未期，溫度將降至 14度左右，但學校件風褸甚至件校褸都唔保暖。 有無家長可給予意見，如氣溫太寒冷，可否替小朋友在外加添厚褸？

Thanks for your information.  如果周四或周五氣溫只有14度，但又唔低過14度，咁樣係咪可以被仔仔著down? 我唔想凍親佢，尤其晨早返學時。

校方應該考慮改冬季校褸變成 " 2 in 1" 大褸，即外面係件質地較厚 ge 風褸，入面係件 "抓毛" 外套。天氣寒冷時，可以一齊著；無咁冷時，可分開著。我見有好多學校用此 design 作冬季校褸，既實用，又耐寒。

SMC so far 樣樣都幾好，唯獨冬季校褸同套 sport suit 稍為單薄，唔夠御寒保溫囉！！

我都好鍾意呢間學校,佢地學到野而功課唔多,有空間俾佢地閱讀&溫習,而且英語環境一流,學生有自信&自學能力高!

but我最憎係籌款活動,點解一年有好幾次籌款,仲要籌款先有得著便服,跑步呀! 仲有d獎劵......,halloween又要,聖誕又要,唔參加個女又唔開心,參加又好煩........有機會我都會同學校反映下,因為d籌款令到我覺得多左工作(e.g.簽回條,找禮物,寫支票,仲要keep住d獎劵(我個女一張都無賣過,我唔會理佢).......
我覺得籌款係可多可少,所以都無咩所謂,but令到學校&家長多左行政工作,就真係煩.......如果可以一次過攪掂就好啦......
不過或者我讀得少天主教學校,其實好多天主教學校都係咁.........esp.那些名校......

I share the same view.  We don't mind making the donation but frequency is a concern.  We prefer to put a lump sum in one lot rather than doing that like monthly.

我亦好憎這類籌款活動, 不要誤會,我不是不樂意付款(其實好些學校都有) 開學至今只有３個月,印像中已有4次(Sport day, charity ticket, 老人院　及christmas casual wear day)平均每個月一次, 每次都填表,開支票&寫交費袋. 每次起碼花我２０分鐘時間. 如學校能一年分3次　List all details, so I pay it by one cheque, so the clerk of SM do not have so many desk work for collection of money.

I have the same feeling as you, to me I don't mind to donate to those who really need our real support like in those 3rd countries which I regular do it. However, it's a bit annoying to give such pressure to kids and parents to show up they have donated among the others.

By the way, it increases a lot workload to teachers and parents.

Do you think the school has too much charity / donation programs.  I have signed a number of cheques recently and majority of those are for "Little Sisters of the Poor".  Why don't the school just give us a table to fill in the donation amount for each items and pay the lump sum in one lot, rather than having us to pay so many cheques.

I decided to give up supporting "The Power of Lover Christmas Charity Show".
