According to your message, I believe Keefe is not car sick (at lease 80%).  I think he got flu.  In fact if 1 person got flu, he/she is not necessary have running nose.  It may be the flu germs gone to his stomach.  If that is true, when he travel by car, he will feel not well.  When traveling by MTR or Train, because it is stable than car or bus, so definitely no problem.  I also have this experience before.  Don’t worry, he will see the doctor tonight, right.

In response to your queries about Phonic in KV.  As I know they don’t have it.  Your point is absolutely right, sometimes Chinese experienced teacher is better than foreign teacher without experience and uncertain qualification.  For your point whether Foreigner or Chinese teacher to teach phonic is better.   My comment is if your kids English standard.  If you are sure that your kid can communicate and understand English very well then choose NET teacher to teach certainly good.  However, if your kid understand Cantonese more, then I think Chinese teacher will be good.  The point is you want your kid to learn better Phonic, if your kid doesn’t understand what the teacher say, he/she will learn very little.  However, as I know there are very few Chinese teacher to teach phonic, because HK parents like NET teacher.

I know YMCA has Phonic course and the teacher’s English standard and teaching skill is quite good.  It accepts 4 years old kid and the tuition fee is more reasonable than other private section.  The teacher is NET teacher.  It uses Jolly phonic as I know, but I saw Letterland character poster in one classroom, the teacher also know the Letterland alphabet songs.

Therefore, you can also try to buy some Phonic VCDs and let your girl watch it at home.  I have 1 set Phonic Kingdom, Lettterland CD Rom and "Between the Lion".  All are Phonic VCD.  My son has known all Alphabet sound already.  Now, I knew Toys Rus has another brand of Phonic VCD to sell.  The demon is showing in TST branch.

Phonic is really very good.  I learnt it when I’m studying in colleague, so with these VCD, I can also teach my son.

Now, when we play the spelling game, I just remind the alphabet sound to my son, he can find the right alphabet.


My son has been joined various English courses in YMCA since 1.5 years old, I have confident about its course and teacher.

Good to hear that Keefe is fine today.

We found that most kids are sleepy in school bus when returned home for a long drive.  A bit worry that the bus don't have seat belt.

And I found my boy becoming troublesome these days.  Keep saying don't want this, don't want that..
don't go to music class, don't go to school bus..
of course he is happy in class, but just keep against you.

My son just like your one, always against me whatever right or wrong.  Be a mother this day is very difficult.  無論打和駡都怕有反效果.  He is my big trouble.  ahah!

I never join Gymnastic and Trevor doesn't have friends join it.

I also want to know what is it about.  Please post to BK later and let us share.

Nice to meet you!
My son is studying in K1D and his class teacher is Miss MI.  Have we met at orientation day on 1 Sep?  On that day, I just exchaged the phone no. with some parents.  

Miss MI is a nice and experienced teacher as one of the upper class parent told me.  I am so glad to hear that my son is guided by a good teacher. Up to now, my son has no resistant for schooling.  Hope the kids enjoy their school life very much.

Let's sharel their school life and keep in touch.   We can know our childen progress by surfing this web site.  YEAH!

I faced the same situation as you, I will tell my son what is your points and why need rejected all my suggesions?  Then he seem understand and stop to rejects.

May be they feel they was elder boy and growth up too much after they went to K1, so present their ideas la...

Hi all mami,

I bring Keefe go to school by MTR today, he look fine and no vomit at lot.  Hope he can keep no vomit on return school bus la.  

Ms. Cheong so kind to Keefe and agreed my suggestion let him try on next Monday and she said me very attentive to Keefe tim.        

In my view, Ms. Cheong always give her attentive to our kids at all time la...  many thanks!

No problem! I haven't brought my daughter to school this Wed & Thur.  In fact, I plan to bring her today, but my boss asked us to reach office by 8:30 this morning.  So may bring her next week, 睇吓有冇機會meet you?

係呀Miss Sung called me yesterday, since my daughter隻眼瘀咗(撞倒 at home ), she wanted to know how and where she was hurt.  She also reminded me to put "medical cream" for her.  She is very nice and very concern about the students    .  Of course, I asked her about my daughter's performance at school and what they did at the class.  She told me that they played 木橋 yesterday.  She said they're just playing and haven't started teaching this two weeks.  

So far, I found all KV teachers are really good.

Kentville is a good school...no doubt. But if you are looking for a school with "freedom" of development, less pressure, less discipline (let the child be free) and English based learning... then it's not the school for you.

Kentville's strengths are discipline, traditional method of teaching, very strict, and chinese and Math are strongest. English is alright, but not by Native English speakers.

I went to Kentville 30 years ago, and my younger sister, and my brother in law, and half of my piano students all are from Kentville. They all went to good schools after Kentville, and secondary school and eventually VERY good universities. It's a great way to start a child (Traditional Chinese family)'s foundation.

Many parents choose International school for the "unique" individual attention for the child, montessori methods, phonics, smaller classes....and the price of tuition comes with this whole package in International schools. VERY expensive compared to Kentville.

So, just know what kind of education path you want your child to take... then you will decide whether Kentville is the right school for her.

I agree with you very much.  My son is in K3 and my younger son is in K1.  I monitor my elder son's progress and since KV has equipped him well, he can have better choice of p.1 school, no matter what approach.  I will not choose traditional school for his primary and so many parents are surprised because they all choose brand school after KV.  I must say I will choose a school that suits my child's character after careful decision.

I think if I didn't choose KV as a start, I don't have so many choices.
