MayAnne, I think most of the kids do not like the blanket covering them when they sleep. ChunYu also kick off the blanket even stand up and put it away. So, he needs to put on thicker clothes outiside and wear a long pant. I do not open wide the window in the bedroom, just leave a narrow gap to get the fresh air in, and turn on an air purifier and open the door. More, I get used to cover him a light blanket on his belly part, so he cannot kick off the blanket when sleeping.
As the small child always go around and play, not sit by table, so if I were you, I could give around 1,300 dollars just same as Sandythepooh.

Disneyland:焮焮起碼去左五次,因為之前我地買左summer pass,所以一得閒我就會單拖同個囡或一家人去玩,焮焮最愛睇煙花,同佢睇3d,佢係度喊住要走,好驚,好在音响勁,唔係好騷擾到人,仲有焮焮同晒 characters 影相,不過佢好怕大公仔,唔敢單獨同佢地影,坐火車焮焮都好鐘意,總之我地一家人好鐘意去迪士尼玩

My practice is quite similar to that of ChunYuMummy. I put long-sleeve T-shirt and long pants for Ga Ga at night and she will also wear a very long and think vest which is especially designed for kids to sleep under air-conditioned environment or cold weather (this kind of vest are sold in large department store, such as Jusco, Seiyu).  Then, I will cover her belly around with a big towel.  She can rarely kick this towel off.  On top of these, I will put a thicker blanket for her.  I also have to get up several times at night in order to ensure the above layers are in good order.

Regarding your second question, I think $1,000 - $1,300 is reasonable.  Of course, for closer friends, I may give more.

My son also like to pick off the blanket even I put the blanket around his tummy .  I let him wearing thick pajama at nite.  

For the wedding red pocket, I also add a few hundred.  If close friend or relative, I will give more.
