Thank you very much for the sharing.  I have a feeling that for the Englsih standard, it sounds almost close to those international school (correct if I am wrong).  I also wonder do most of the kids can adapt and can meet the standard ?  

I have a relative whose 3 sons were all from St Jo (They are at their 30's and 40's now).   I remember they didn't have tutors at that time.  Still they were quite OK.  Are the kids nowaday really have a lower academic standard ?  Or just too many activities and distraction ?

I do worry too !

I pay attention to St Paul's Boy's discussion too.  I share the same thought as you to certain extend.  SJP no doubt is a tough road for the kid and us (for the coming 10+ years !!!) but still it is my first choice at the moment, unless my son is proven to be very very unsuitable for this school or the school won't take my son finally.

Hi sng, Lelu,

Lelu's examples really alert me about the 'high' academic level of SJP.  Though I know that SJP is difficult but such 'high' level is still out of my expectation.

The question Y+6+Y=12, Y=? is in effect an ALGEBRA question, which in my school time, taught in Form 1 (!!) [maybe the equation is more difficult but the theory is definitely at secondary school level]

The centre helps us a lot as:
1. we are working parents.
2. my son is not self-disciplined and attentive.

He goes there three times a week.

    I also absoulte agree with you. I remember this question taught in Form 1. So, I am going dizziness during I look at this sharing from Lelu. Also, I am very very worry even my son can go into the P1. He just a little boy and I don't want to give much great pressure to him and me.
Lelu,   What is your planning about the activities after school? Is he give up "all" playing activities or social gathering  from K3 to primary?

Hi buddiesboyd,

Extra-curricular activities and/or social gathering can still be arranged on Friday night or weekend.  We do take annual leave from work to accompany with him on school holidays.

Hi Lelu,

Same as you, I don't think I should cancel all ECA my son is attending now even he's admitted to SJP next year.  

Like adults, I think they also need a balanced life so ECA can help them to 'escape' from studies for a while.  So I think I will let my son to carry on with swimming, drawing classes he is now attending and later on wish to add 1 more sports (maybe 空手道you recommended before).

Hello Lelu,

While you lady are talking about ECA, I remember your son is playing "Go". Am I wrong?
Which centre is he in now? Any chance to play with my son? :wink:

He learnt from 香港兒童圍棋學院 at the residential clubhouse.  However, he was unable to join the course after attending P1, which is held on late p.m. of weekdays.  He's now at grade 20.

I indeed don't want him to drop such hobby.  I will encourage him to join the GO club of SJPS.

It'll be nice for him to be a team member of your son.

Do your boys find the "GO" games interesting? 香港兒童圍棋學院 is near my home so if your boys are interested in the games, perhaps I will also let my son to try try.

My son has been learning "Go" in 香港兒童圍棋學院 for 1 year. Although he is given a grade 17, I don't think he reach the std, so after he finished 初四 班，I let him start from 初三班 again.
I think learning in the centre is better, there are more kids, after the course, I let him play with other kids in the centre.

I've asked my son, among all the activities he join, "Go" is his 至愛。 I, myself, also feel interest.

Don't know whether u will mix up the 2 "Go" centres, one is in Leighton Road, near St. Paul Convent. The other moved to Morrison Hill Rd few mths ago.
We are in the Morrison Hill Rd one. My son is in the Sat afternoon class, pls let me know if there is chance to meet.

Thank you for your reminder.  I was in fact meaning the one on Leighton Road.  But Morrison Hill Road also not far away to us.  Which part / building of Morrison Hill Rd?  Is the centre good?  

I remember you son also joined Phonics courses, right?  Is that good?  helpful to the Eng. dictations?

Tks for your useful info on the GO school.  Are you joining its 'parent-kid' classes?  I think I miss its latest term (already started last weekend).  Will see if can spare time for it next term.

Does your son also learn musical instrument?  My son learnt piano for about 1 year but he's very lazy to practise and shows no interest.
