From lots of your postings on BK, I know you really worry about the pri school for your son. I recon you actaully know the different possibility for your son to get into Wah yan and St.joseph.
A needle didn't have two pinpoints. Once, you take a high risk to let your son attend the central allocation for Wah yan , and it is perfect if you really get it.
In St. Joseph, the most pressure is a boy who need to keep his position least to 100 (some parents say 80) out of 300-320 prupils. (8 classess X 40) Otherwise, no gurantee to get into the secondary.
So, it means your boy need to keep his class position within 11.
Compare with many primary, get the position within 11 should not be difficult . But in St.Joseph,  it will be depends on what's the potential and how hard-working of a student. So, you'll see some parents complained that they (parents and child) tried their best but.......... and also some said that it's not too hard.
In fact, it happens in all famous schools (e.g. St.Mary, Hip yan......)
Back to the fact that if a student can't get least to 11. The first ocassion is he gets 100-200 (approx.), he has half chance to get into the St'Joseph College.(by central allocation), the other occassion is he gets after 200, he has exactly no chance to get into the Secondary.
So, what happens to the boys(100-200) who can't get into the Secondary. Many of them will be allocated to Tang Keng Bor and Cheung chun hing .(allocated by district) Both are CMI (Chinese Secondary) So, many parents  .
But the situation get changes in these two years, because, some students (100-200) will get places in St.Paul Boys,中華基金 or some other good DSS.
From this year, students even can choose two schools at the first stage.......(of course, we don't know the details)
And in some cases, parents let their children change to Victoira, St.stephen in P.3 or P.4, ....... those schools always happy to take over the boys from St.Joseph.
Kerobobo, suppose your son study very well in shcools other than St.Joseph and Wah yan. Will you regret that you don't let him to get into St.joseph? If yes, you should let him try. If you think that is impossible for your son to study very well or you won't regret. Then, you've consider seriously. Maybe think about Wah Yan........or Hennessery Govt. or some DSS, like St.Paul, HKGUA...etc.
