Re: No More
I, mother of two, obtained my MA (Oxon) ten odd years ago (MOF, in case you do not know, Oxon means Oxoniensis - and you do not need to study for your MA in Oxford and Cambridge). Actually there is no big deal about getting into Oxford, especially if you move to a UK high school at a young age and apply from there (as opposed to trying Lee Shau Kee or other scholarships as a HK A-Level student).
If you look at the weightings of the various elements in the Times Best University Guide, you can see that the reason why Oxford overtook Cambridge in these couple of years is because they have moved the goalposts.
But there is no big about graduating from Oxford either: getting a first may not be easy, but you can just bum around for three years and get away with a 2-2 and then impress the whole world by telling people you've been to Oxford. Frankly Oxbridge have lost s good deal of their past charm.
MOF if you have something about Oxford you want to share you can do so, but there is no need to tell us your MSS daughter is now in Oxford (which I do NOT believe for one minute - I know you don't care, but I think I have "tack bau" you- you dare not even name her college - I know I said I got my MA Oxon ten odd years ago but that is a piss taker).
Actually for all your pretended interest in discussing good education, you have not answered one question asked by many "what has your children's school - or or your own - or your hubby's - have anything to do with it? |
