Wow, a full library every midnight? do they have work life balance? It has to do with the fact that only 2 or 3 libraries are still open at midnight. However, her university is famous for being academically vigorous. My daughter took a Korean class and one Monday the professor asked casually what the students had done over the weekend and almost everyone answered "studying". Nevertheless, the students still manage to have a lot of extracurricular activities. My daughter continued her voluntary work and became president of the branch of an international collegiate service organization at her university in her sophomore year. The students do work hard and play hard. Not to mention the holidays between the semesters when you can really let your hair down and do a lot of other things. This is what my daughter put in her updated cv, no. of countries visited during college: 32.
My daughter did hesitate to go to this university but she told me the other day she already started to miss the place although she's still there. The competition is fierce but the students are awesome. They do reach out to help each other. Though sounding a bit negative she said even the students coming from Hong Kong are amazing.
