Dear YinYin,

I asked the teacher last Saturday and she said that the class is not yet fixed and you will know which class your girl be in only on Sep 1.
My girl told me that duing the test, if you the kid was able to answer the question, a small snack was given, like candies or biscuit. So you can check how many small gifts your girl has to see if she was doing well in the test.

I would like to know if any one of you know of any private school bus can pick up kids in Shatin to St Mary's? The place in Shatin I live do not have a stop from school bus and I have checked with the private bus that was offering service outside the school that day, they also do not have a route for Shatin. This is really a headache for me. If you have any referral, please pm me. Thanks a lot.

於1/20051st round在校門張貼公佈,  我抄下收了64人, 以我所知1st round起碼有300人報, 所以扣除姊妹現讀必收後, 20marks抽不中是不出奇。
2nd round只得60個位供大抽, 那麼, 今年比往年表面上是收少了人, 或校長留回應酬3rd round D friend/神父/修女等, 有待知曉。

The cost for books is around $189x.xx- and plus $79.5 for the plastic book covers, you have to prepare for $2,000 for books and $140 for e-reading.(e-reading is optional but I think most of the students will join)

4R is correct that in the first round, St Mary's accpeted 64 students and the total number of seats are around 124. I also have friend with 20 marks not being accepted in the first round.
Though the nubmer look less, but you have to remember that Canossian's Angel student will also come to St. Mary's College later, so you can image how big a class in F1 it will be, so taking less P1 students is not a bad arrangement.
With less students, for those admitted are good since there will only be around 30-32 students in each class. Smaller class is better.
They will also push the parents to ensure the girls are good enough. I heard that parents are receiving calls from school today to meet with teachers this week if the girl did not perform well in the test last Saturday (parent's day). They are really serious.

誇區是否有10%即6個位, 有冇計埋

I think the 10% of students in non-31 net are included already since we are also in non-31 net. We live in Shatin and we report the actual address (no fake one) and we got 20 marks and being accepted in the first round in last Nov.

So, we do not have a stop for school bus in our place, very bad. If you have any referral of private van, please pm me.

SMCC有六班F1, 每班約40人。一直以來每年的收生差不多：三班來自同校小學，兩班天神，一班其他學校。每年由小學部上中學都有超過110人，與現今一條龍後的學位數目沒有多大分別。不過以前小學部未轉全日制時每級有五班（上下午加埋），全日制後才變四班，而小學部轉全日制都有幾年了。

One thing to add. According to EMB definition:

My girl got all the little gifts last Saturday. My girls's classmate mother did receive a call from St. Mary yesterday to ask her to pick up some paper works for her girl.

I asked my girl and she said every girl got those candies and little gifts from big sisters there. The gifts were given via games. Aside from doing papers, she was asked to introduce herself too.

Agreed. My girl also said all girls received small gifts, among which were ruler and pencil. She also said around two girls' parents of the yellow group were asked to met the teacher. But never mind. In the parents' meeting, the princeple said the test had nothing to do with deviding of classes, but the school would ask some parents to help their children during the summer vacation if the scores were not so good in the test, so they can get along with the class the school opens.

I think the assessment has serve its purpose well. By the way, the way the school Principal talked at the Parents' day on 23/7 might be harsh at times (similar tone as last year) but is "realistic" and in good faith.
