Edsie,
Yr relative should try the Canadian International School. A good school, and many years ago, I went to Russia with their scouts, a very enjoyable trip.
Also, yr relative story does reflect that school cannot replace family as the main or only mean to bring up kids. In this kind of situation, another good school may not be able to turn around the boy's attitude towards schooling.
As another boy might stay in SPCPS for many years to come, I suggest yr relative to get in touch with the Principal to seek advice. My experience with Ms. Chan was that she was very willing to offer help. By the way, there are may good parenting books for learning.
Selecting a school is not selecting a hotel for a single trip, kids need to stay there for a very long period. No matter it was the "dream" school or not, we, as parents, must be ready to contribute our part of effort.
A final piece of sharing, parent should try to find out the school's "reality", system and requirments before joining any school. If there is no other choice, one should at least make out the best from the worst. |
