我的小朋友已被此校取錄, 我想知多一些學校情況, 小朋友是否沒有什麼壓力? 因自K3開始, 我發覺自己的小朋友很容易擔心, 比較緊張, 常常害怕自己默書唔識, 個心卜卜跳, 我很擔心小朋友入了一些比較傳統的學校, 以他的情況來看, 壓力會很大?
請各家長比D意見, 多謝!

據我所知，九龍塘宣小在剛結束的全港青年音樂匯演比賽小學組管樂團，弦樂團和交響樂團全取金獎，音小在音樂方面可否追上宣小？

其實我想兩者關係不大, 音小是給孩子一個環境去學音樂. 而宣小是要求孩子為學校羅獎, 個 approach 唔同, 不能比較. 好似國內頂級音樂學校一樣, 佢地d學生唔駛考ABRSM, 但水準很高. 佢地學校所有大師班人馬, 在該校畢業, 已經達標.  仲有, 根本音小都無參加比賽, 若有的話, 將學生加以訓練, 未必會輸.
我識人讀宣小, 佢地個 approach 好commercial, 為考試, 為比賽而學音樂. In short-run, 好似幾好, 咁快見成績, but in long-run, 音樂係要培養, 興趣+天資+訓練+努力, 缺一不何. 我成日問宣小家長, 為什麼要咁趕, 小學完成八級, 之後又如何. 就是中三完成演奏級, 之後又如何! 不如讓孩子去欣賞音樂, 去感受音樂, 來得還有意義.  當然, 亦要小孩 keep 住一個合理的進度啦!

十分同意音小的理念是培養孩子對音樂的興趣，而不是摧谷

Agree with you. But I think most parent would like to see their kids obtain Grade 8 before P.6 for the sake of good secondary schools. I have doubt on whether APS can train so many G.8 kids by P.6. How can one obtain G8 flute at the age of 9??? Is she genius in music?

都話欣賞音樂同考ABRSM係兩回事, 你的孩子有學piano, 你應該清楚同明白, that's why I said APS is very commercial, 一年只學三首歌, 年頭吹到年尾, 你試下, 可能你都得. 人人喜好唔同, 所以有人鍾意音小, 有人鍾意宣小. 我有好多親友讀宣小, 而在音樂節是小女學校的competitor, 所以我較留意je.  間間學校都好, 最緊要家校合作, 大人細佬都happy.  如你有意追隨宣小的音樂老師學管或弦樂, 佢地出面有私人教授, 收費與在宣小應該差不多 (around $400/45 min), 你想開邊"範", 我幫你問人啦, 何必去query呢!

你講個個問題, 我話你知, 學業成績唔合標準, G8幫你唔到.  DGS 隊 school band 要G7才有機入band, this is only minimum requirement.  還要看有無位及通過 audition 才可入 band.  你知嗎, flute is the most popular wood wind instrument in a band, 最多人學, 競爭好大, 無咁上下功力, 宣小school band 都唔收啦.  Violin 一樣 supply over demand.

讀好d書吧了, 課外活動就是課外有多餘時間可分配出來才做的.  不要成為孩子的負擔, 這樣會弄巧反拙的.

題外話，上次post段嘢，係我肥仔寫嘅，哈哈！好趣緻呢？肥仔話interview音小時，老師播着音樂，叫佢感受一吓，現後畫一幅畫。跟著叫interviewD小朋友一齊，講下心事喎。

Harry,

I would not let my son to learn other instrument even though piano is no use. In fact, he only obtains Grade 5 piano at P.2 since he learns it since K.1 i.e. nearly 5 years. However, I think $450 tuition fee for music per 45 min is not worth it. I may let my son learning other academic instead.

Piano都唔錯, why not let your kid keep on learning, don't deliver this message to your kid--no use.  My daughter is learning piano & trumpet.  For me, the difference :

Piano - so lonely, nobody share with you.

trumpet - playing band, 勁忙 (不是忙practise but 忙出show), 勁好玩, 成班人呢度去, 個度去 (but parents are really tired).  My daughter is not playing very well, she is very lazy and never practise at home.

平有平學, 貴有貴學.  只不過係讀得APS的家庭, 唔會太窮, 佢地比d好野d細佬je.  That's why, the teacher will push the students so hard in order to obtain the result to appreciate the parents.  Even my friend agreed, the effort & result are from the APS parents but not the teacher.

學音樂都可以慢慢浸je, 音統處收費$130-$160/month, 4 hrs/month. 都有好多成功個案.  So, I never expected my daughter completed G8 before P6.  Just let her leisure & enjoy music, only if she likes, that's fine.  This is an asset for children whole life, they never feel lonely.

I mean piano is no use to enter DBS and LaSha-they are my dream schools. In fact, my son enjoys playing piano much - he practises over 1 hour every day and he has solid basic skills. If he attends G8 standard for every song, I may let him try G8 piano. I will not let him try G8 just for the pass of G8 and for 3 songs only. For private school I can afford even for St. Paul Co-ed but I don't think it worth to study private school cos. there is 6 year free education unless the private school can gurantee to enter traditional famous school like DBS or St. Paul. For music office, I may try if his homework is not much next year. I am curious about APS as it has 98% English secondary school rate and 88% band 1 rate. Of course, it has 22 students to DBS and performs greatly in music with many G8.

One of the reasons DBS accepted so many APS because APS's English standard is high.  From P5, they need to extend school hour & need to pay additonal on it.  The headmaster is also one of the lecturers for the extra lesson.  They use the same English Reader with my daughter's school but APS P4 = ours P6.  APS student need to repeat if either Chi/Eng/Maths failed.  A lot of my friend's kid study in APS, they always just got marginal pass in all subjects.  They teach English Maths in P6, so their English standard is overall higher than public primary schools.  That's why, I said, even DGS changed to DSS, I believed they will accept more APS students.

請問"國際基督教優質音樂中學暨小學" 是一所international school 嗎? 位於哪? 一星期上多少小時音樂呢? Interview 時要已懂些樂器嗎? 若只懂樂器(any kind of musical instruments), 不是很出色, 可入讀嗎? 不懂中文可讀嗎?  全日制還是半日制既小學呢? 學費多少?

音小不是國際學校，是間全日制中英文小學，一條龍英文中學。課程裡加強音樂課的培訓，並須至少修一種樂器，如入讀小一，之前無須學過樂器。小一學費連樂器費每月$3960。如想了解多些，可翻看此forum的前文，或音小的website:

I'm sorry that I can't guess it cos' I haven't browse much primary school and have no idea about it. I'm also want to know as I'm also planning to apply 活動教學 + 直資 school though he's just K1 in Sep 05.

(1)我看了icqm 的 website, 我很喜歡他們的"抱負和使命" principles. 請問這是一所全新的學校嗎 (校舍好像都是新的)? 學校的facilities 真的很不錯啊!

(2) icqm 是有中學部的, 那website 內的校舍是中學部或是小學部呢?

(3) 唔知校內有冇學 drum set 的呢?

(4) 若果插班係咪要最少一年前伸請呢? 因為我見個website 現已接受06 年既插班生~~

(4) icqm的學費和同類學校的相比之下是貴些還是平而些呢?

(5) 只有English, Math, and Music 是用英文教學 / 課本嗎? 因為我既小朋友first language 是 英文, 他們的中文非常有限, 我怕他們沒有資格伸請這所學校~~ 唔知該校有冇呢類小朋友成功入讀呢?

(6) 不知有冇icqm 既email 可以聯絡該校呢? (我想問他們一些問題)

(7) icqm 有冇 英文 website 可供參看呢?
