Wow, no wonder primary schools treasure "KV Honor Student" la.
I also guess that they've started the dictation, but at this stage I would not particularly practise these with Alvin, 'coz I don't want to impose pressure on him.  Instead, I think it would be better if he treats it a game with the class.

Hi all,

While I was reading with Andrea last night and we looked at the word "flag", she suddenly told me that Miss Chiu asked her to make a flag and bring it back to school.  She said it was the National Day on 1 Oct  and Miss Chiu wanted the students to "make" a flag at home.  I have no way to check immediately to see if she said the truth.  Luckily I have the material at home and managed to make one   .  Andrea told me that only one student has brought the flag to school.  I think Miss Chiu might have asked the kid to do it before the holiday, just that they forgot so...  

Dictation has started and Andrea said it will be Maths today.  Yesterday was Chinese (only 5 words) and English the day before (also 5 words).

Andrea can tell u all the details, really smart!! Herrick tells me what does he learn at school, does not mention about the flag and dictation

Hahaha… 唔好俾Andrea呃到… 實情係佢成日只係留意其他人就唔理自己d野做好未… for example, 佢可以自己拎住d功課簿遊雲掛住望Miss Chiu or 其他小朋友而唔去交功課… that’s why 佢可以知道晒d 同學名.  d 同學做d咩俾Miss Chiu 話…

佢成日扮Miss Chiu, d 語氣好似ga… Andrea 唔係成日主動同我講學校教d 咩… 好多時都係我旁敲側擊咁問.  好似今次做國旗咁, 如果唔係讀緊個flag字, 我根本就唔知.  上星期放假第一日, 我已經問佢有冇野要extra 做, 佢話冇ga.  佢仲話miss chiu 尋日先講.  被我問多兩問就話Miss Chiu 提咗佢一次, 有一個同學交咗支旗… :;pppp:

According to Andrea, Miss Chiu was sick yesterday due to fever.  Miss Au stays with them all day and Miss Poon came in and teach Chinese.

I've asked Andrea whether they finished the first Chinese book and don't need to bring back to school.  She told me that Miss Chiu started reading the big book "我的家".  Does anyone know if they had finished the textbook?

Yes, Alvin also told me that Ms Chiu had been sick.  He also told me about dictation.  Andrea's mom, Alvin also said that he played with Andrea on the playground during recess.  Great!

Per Andrea there was no dictation yesterday.  I'm not sure if this was due to Miss Chiu's sick leave.  Anyway, dictation is easy for them at this stage

Hi Andrea's mom,

Andrea is a very helpful girl.  As Herrick is almost the last one who goes into the classroom, I urge him to take out the homework and put on corresponding tables.  Andrea hears that and helps Herrick to submit the homework.  Many thanks to her!!

Hi Herrick's mom,

You are most welcomed!  Andrea would always like to lend a hand but forget to concentrate on her own work!

To all moms - Andrea told me last Friday that Miss Chiu told the class that "formal" Eng dictation (dictation on notebook instead of a piece of paper) will begin after they finished writing letter Z.  Most probably next week

Andrea just received her first notice of "Show and Tell" yesterday.  The presentation falls between 27 Oct to 20 Nov

Hi all

Andrea said there may be Maths "dictation game" today.

She also told me that the girls went to the computer room yesterday.  The boys went there last time.  She said she was asked to press on the "Sun" button

Andrea just told me that they have Eng dictation game today - 10 questions (I wonder if it should be on Tues)   The dictation will be returned for parent's signature tmr.

They had PTH lesson today.  They said "老師好, 小朋友好" and sang a song with Miss Yu.

Oh yes, Alex said that Ms Yu gave stickers to them.
For the weekly dictation and mental, schedule usually as follows:
Mon - mental
Tues - English dictation
Wed - Chinese dictation
Thurs - mental

Have any of you meet Miss Chiu last Saturday?  She is really a caring teacher and can pin-point the strength and weekness of my daughter.  I’ve so happy to have her as Andrea’s class teacher.  

However, I need to say sorry to Chiu Pui Huen’s mom and those moms behind me as I had quite a lengthy discussion with Miss Chiu that day.

According to Andrea, they started mental yesterday (e.g what is the number between 1 & 3, what is the number after 4)

One thing I want to check with you all is - did they started the revision for "assessment paper"?  Andrea told my mom that she did 大paper yesterday (but for revision only).  Does this mean assessment right after the holiday??

Andrea's mom, Alvin didn't mention about the paper.  I'll ask him tonight.  BTW, I'm really a careless mom.  Last week Alvin handed over his dictation to me.  Since he's got full marks, I didn't check carefully.  But yesterday I found that he's expected to rewrite a letter for 5 times at the back of the sheet (maybe because his writing is not nice enough).

Oh, I am careless too. I remembered to ask my son to rewrite a better B four times on the first dictation but forgot about checking the back of it last time. Alex probably had to write a better letter "L". Haha, I signed and filed it back already. let me check check sin.

About the big paper, I think it's just a revision for the children to get acquaint to the assessment format. I think only when the teacher has sent out the week 7 syllabus to us, we then need to prepare for the 'big paper assessment'.

How are your children doing at school so far? I will meet Miss Chiu this Sat morning. My son always asks me if there is recess today. He is unhappy and doesn't like going to school if there is no recess. He has complained that there are too many classwork and writing exercises to be done in class. Well, I know K2 is quite a change when compared to K1 schooling. I hope that my boy would do well this school year.

Oh, by the way, my son mentioned Kenneth, George and Brandon in his class, and he knows more and more names of his classmates.

Hi, Andrea also got full marks on her Eng dictation last week but need to make correction for letter G (she didn't touch the middle line).  You can see that they would earn fewer chops if they need to make corrections even with full marks.

Andrea didn't mention again about the "big paper" stuff.  maybe it's a 流料

It's not easy to memorise all the classmates names esp sometimes they mention in Chinese and sometimes in English.

I met Miss Chiu last Sat.  Andrea adapts quite well in K2 excepts her "old problems" - 理人家既野多於自己
