1) I can only share what happened in P.1 last year and P.2 so far.

Assuming there will be no changes in the policy, there is no streaming in P.1
What happened was that in early June last year (just before the final examination), the pupils in all 5 classes in P.1 would be reshuffled into different combination.   
Some would stay in the same class  while some would
move to other classes for about 2 weeks or so.
It seemed to be some sorts of division into enhancement and remedial classes in preparation only for the final examination.

For the first term in P.2, as far as I can see, pupils were reassigned into
different classes at random, not necessarily according to their academic results in P.1.

Not sure about the arrangement from P.3 - P.6?
But I understand that there will be enhancement and remedial classes at
some stage, even though it may not be in an explicit manner.

Hope parents of senior grades can share some experience with us
as well?

2) Obviously, teachers will keep a record of all the pupils' marks after each term test and examination.
Top 20 in each class and top 50 in each grade will be mentioned in the
academic report which will be distributed after the examination  in the
1st term and 2nd term (final exam), respectively.

2. Are students ranked after each uniform test and exam like many schools do?

1.  I don't think there is streaming in P4 either.
Don't know about P6.
Hope some parents from P4 and P6 sees this and answer.
But definitely not for P3 and P5 - the kids are allocated quite randomly.

2.  I think it is from P2.
There are remedial classes for major subjects (definitely Chin and Maths, not sure about Engl), 1 session per week.
There are enhancement classes but not sure about details.
If you read the school circ from the school's website (not e-class), you will find there are classes for gifted kids as well.

Click "Curriculum" and then click "English" and then choose "Teachers".
We can then see that the remedial class for English will start from P.2
while the enhancement class for English will start from P.4.

2) I just  read the new circular about the gifted programme in the school
web site.
I think this is something new for TSL, though this is a very hot topic
in town recently.

From the results of 6C 2 years ago, it seemed that 6C was obviously the best academically. But not sure if the streaming starts earlier.

Motk,

remedial = 補底, for kids who did not do well in the previous year's exam
enhancement = 拔尖, for kids who did very well, they are given some problems of a more advanced stage

Please refer to circular (and e-circular) No. G039 dated 16 Oct 2007 for multicultural day.

re : 資優課程

This circular should be distributed only to those kids who were SELECTED to attend, i.e. on invitation basis and not open application basis.

I also think that the school/teachers will try to identify those gifted children based
on certain criteria.
I know that some parents may declare this to the school if they already
know that.

If you think your child could be gifted as well, you may contact the class
teacher and see if an assessment is required?

If you can spare half day's time, it will be a good idea for P.1 parents to
participate in the school events to share the joy with our children.

There is a written test on June or July, please check (almost at the end of school term), try to enroll again especially if your child has good  academic performance but shy to present himself/herself.

I went to Chan Bing Kee today and bought the winter uniform. But we couldn't buy the tie. The man said we can buy it at school. Is that true?

Those who have failed the 1st interview should not give up. Yes, do can try again in the second round, which is sometime in June. But you must also train up your kid in English. Perhaps the parents whose child got admitted in the second round can share their experience.

This is NOT correct.
The school will not sell the tie.

It could be that it is running out of stock at the Chan Bing Kee shop you went to.
Try to call other few uniform suppliers to check.
