Hi Lelu,

Just browsed school's website and found my boy's name NOT on the list        But this is the result I expected so not much disappointed (a bit disappointed just because I still had a bit 僥倖心理 before).

Anyway will wait for 2nd round.  Good luck to me !

Yes I know you've mentioned before that your boy only got minimum point.

I found quite many (around 10, and perhaps more, cos I only know names my son frequently mentions) my son's classmates' names bor.  What about you?  

And I read from newspaper that 50% applicants got admission in 1st round this year.  Is this ratio higher than previous years?  50% chance bor, mmm.....we're so unlucky, right?     

Still need to wait until next June for results of 2nd round.  

What about your application for DSS school?

No worry and be relax.  Last year, my son's class only had ~8 students being admitted at the first stage but all of them (except one to DSS school) are now studying in SJP.

We should trust Miss. Leung, who is a responsible principal.

Many thanks for your words which always 'send charcoal during icing days'!   

Yes I trust Miss Leung (in fact I didn't apply for any DSS/private schools).  

Just felt unhappy for a while this morning (especially when saw those my boy's good friends' names on the list whilest his not).

Now will continue normal life and start to plan for activities during coming X'mas days

Do u mind telling us how much points do u have? I think all the boys with 20points are accepted in the 1st round.

I have bought the shoes from the shop that u mentioned as well. And I have just bought the grey short socks from M & S with very good deal.( around $55 for 5 pairs)

Hi sandwichmum,

I can say all K3 students were admitted to SJP  last year unless they elected not to enroll.

I am also confident that all K3 students this year will be admitted finally.

However, it seems that the no. of classess and the no. of students of each class will reduce sharply.  SJP is seriously considering the one dragon system with SJC and so may reduce the no. of P1 places from 2008.  If it happens, more external K3 candidates will apply P1 in 2008.  Then, the competition will be as keen as that of La Salle.  It may explain why the no. of K2 students has been reduced a lot.  As my son studied K2, there were ~30 students in a class.

Notwithstanding the possible competition in 2008, the students of SJK are still at a better positon as compared with those without background.

I'm not aware SJK gives priority to any K1 kindergarten.  Instead, they focus on the applicants themselves i.e. performance during the interview and other factors, e.g. old boys' children, Catholic, etc.

However, I heard a "rumour" that the principals of certain other Catholic kindergartens can give a "powerful" reference letter for SJP P1 application.

Dear Lelu,

Your words are encouraging!! But even as a K2 parent now, I am really worried about my boy's  P.1 admission in 2008. We are the one neither an old boy nor catholic. :(

You know yesterday school put up a big poster at its entrance showing names of all kids been admitted.  After school yesterday my boy told his grandma that "我出年無書讀。有書讀既小朋友先有名，我無名所以無書讀".  My mother said my son sounds like he has done sth. wrong.  Poor boy.......

You know he doesn't understand the allocation system at all.  He must be thinking that he didn't do well so be penalized and school not accept him.

After heard my mother's description, I nearly cried

what a poor parent, I've the same feeling with you.
This is a game for parent, but our kids are innocent & pure.  But I still believe that "the students of SJK are still at a better positon as compared with those without background"

  Don't worry. I am the same situation. Both of us are waiting the 2nd round. I am also unhappy because I can't see the result till 7pm on 20/11.

More power to you, and don't worry.  I hear the same that SJP will take back all the kids who are appealing.

On the other hand, don't miss the chance to teach your kids to "hang in there, be tough and must do a better job than other kids when they have a chance to go to SJP".
