Is your son Ko Wai Fung? The first classmate's name that my boy ever told me was Ko. And he said that they are good friends. Why can't u join the Halloween party?

You are not alone. Don't mind the  poor handwriting, they just started to write. I believed that they will pick up eventually. I found out that my boy use his left hand index finger to help in writing a straight line which he said was taught by the teacher at school. Any way, add oil!!!!

I mean parents are not invited to join the Halloween party with the kids at school.  Just like the picnic, all parents will not be invited !

Thanks for your notice, I thought it was on Oct. 26 annd didn't know I was a monchacha dad.

School Bus B is always later than School Bus A.  I notice there are many Class B kids in School Bus B.

All of them are well behaved and coorperated with 小毛姨姨&梁叔叔today.

Don't cry.  Most boys (especially those who didn't write any in K1 time, like my son) have such problems lah.  I always think that as long as my boy (and I) had paid effort to write better, I will accept the outcome even it's a bit disappointed.  

Our boys are just 4 or 5 year old, right?  I think they're very OK lah.  When they grow, they can manage the pencils better and have concepts on "what kind of handwriting are required by teachers", they'll write better.

Dont feel bad! With the continual support from parents here and my heartful effort, my boy improves a lot in doing homework without crying or upset by teacher's disencouragement of earsing ALL words in class. Trying to put on the boys' shoes, it is really difficult for 4 yrs old boys to write words neat and tidy. It is most appreciated to have their motivation to do homework and then work their improvement.  So, do praise him for his work. WE should accept that not every boy can have good handwriting. Their confidence and eagerness to learn are essential. Now, i correct my boy's word thro 選美活動 that we find out 3-4 ugly words (u can call them unimals, say snake...). Then my boy rewrite them. Dont erase all or most of their words, the boys feel hurt. When the assignment returned, i share with my boy again by 選美活動 on those words without marking in red. Bear in mind! Dont DEFEAT our boys!一起努力!

As I think I got a big problem that is he is so excited (he told me about the dictation) because of his mother's nervious. I think I need to improve myself first, because he is only a 4yrs old kid, which I hurt him much that I can't repair. So I say sorry to him but he just ask me why and it doesn't matter
he make me cry and really feel sorry.
Now, I think I'll just let him learn by himself, even he will be the last in class, just let him enjoy his school life. Since he will much handwriting in future.

It's good that u have your mother and domestic helper's assistance despite the drawback u mentioned. At least, they can release part of your burden. I'm the only one to look after my boy's school work, extra-curricular activities and my girl's K.1 application as my hubby is busy. Sometimes, i really feel tired to take care of my 2 monkies.

There are 7 "class B" boys and mums shared a happy afternoon on Sat. It's good to have such gathering that the boys played a lot outside classroom. We share, we make friends and provide support each others. From the sharing, I know more about what is happening in the classroom.  :

Don't worry about the handwriting.  My son's handwriting is not good either.  It's liked writing the letters under typhoon signal no. 3 (homework) and typhoon signal no. 12 (dictation).

I'm happy because I don't expect him to write a lot in K2.  Maybe you're setting a high expectation on him.  Just relax, and he will take good care of himself.

I was wondering what activities that other kids will do after school and homework.  I need to think of something to burn my kid's energy before going to bed.

Dear Jackielee,

U mean that the teacher counts those poor written words as wrong in the dictation? If so, we need to make a balance between the school requirement and the boys' effort, esp. they write the correct but poor in handwritting.

Yes so I really appreciate their help.  

But your case is not bad.  Think it positively you can share all precious moments with your kids and monitor their developments better.   

You'll consider put your younger child (boy or girl?) in a more relaxing school?     I have a friend with 2 kids, place elder son in LaSalle Primary (which is same traditional type as St. Jo) and now he said he want to place his younger daughter in international school next year (primary 1), otherwise, he and his wife will become crazy and can't manage two kids in traditional schools.

This is TRUE.  Corrections are required for words not beautifully written even they're correctly written.

I think we parents should take this easy.  Teachers must set their standard high.  What we shall do is just do our best to meet teachers' requirements.  So each time when my boy need to do corrections for dictations, I will study together with him to find out which parts are not good and remind him repeatedly.

mmmmm..... my boy's teacher is always very strict so my son seldom got full marks for Chinese dictation.
