Dear hkpapa,
I have filled in more data in the table you posted earlier.
The additional data are from the MCS annual reports 2015-16 & 2017-18.
| 2013 | 2014 | 2015 | 2016 | 2017 | 2018 | | 整體4+ | 78.47% (估計) | 78.90% | 76.20% | 84.80% | 78.30% | 79.20% | | 入3大比例 | 45.44% | 49.75% | 48.67%% | 59.85% | 61.36% | 44.69% | | local degree/% | | 72.1 | 64.7 | 74.3 | 68.2 | 66.7 | | Big 3 U/% (among local degree) | | 69 | 73 | 79 | 81 | 77 | (34+20+23) | Big 3 U %(among graduates) | | 49.75 | 47.23 | 58.70 | 55.24 | 51.36 | | overseas degree/% | | 14.7 | 20 | 13.6 | 15.2 | 20.1 | | Total degree/% | | 86.8 | 84.7 | 87.9 | 83.4 | 86.8 | | 3322 or above/% | | 89.9 | 85.3 | 91.6 | 84.5 | 86.1 | |
1. The are discrepancies in the % of 3 big U. The 2018 % seems due to wrong transfer of HKU % data.
2. By comparing the 3322 or above and 4+ %. The DSE results seems similar to precious years, slightly better than 2015 & 2017.
3. The total % of degree (local and overseas) are quite steady as well, again better than 2015 & 2017.
4. The slight drop of % of big 3 could be accounted for by the increased % of overseas degree studies.
5. The JUPAS offer (8 U and big 3), when compared with % of actual local degree study, may be a better indicator of DSE performance if that is the purpose, as admission mainly depends on DSE results. This is especially true for schools (particularly aided schools) with a higher proportion of their students studying outside HK. Using DSE results to apply overseas universities is no easier than local universities (though still depends on standard of university).
It is difficult to compare different schools as they publish data in different format and to different extent as well.
Regards.
